I like this badge system....
Unfortunately I have but a single mid-grade computer, so wake me up in 10 years or so.

And for relative newbies like myself, there seems to be only around 60 truely active projects out there. So my goal now is 3 bronze.

Werinbert...the badges are based on number of apps and their run times. Not number of projects. Some projects have several apps. PrimeGrid alone has a dozen apps. WCG has 6 active apps and 3-4 intermittent ones (plus a BETA app for each project). So, you can get the badges a lot easier then you think. The other part of the equation comes down to how many threads you can muster up.

So the old machines, that can't crunch worth a damn, that I have access to now have a new lease on life. Lousy credits, but lots of processing time.

Yes. Just like at WCG, running time of each app builds badges. The more threads, the quicker it builds.

On a more important note, I just upgraded star 3 to gold.

I noticed for GPUgrid they have a "newbie" badge. I am thinking that maybe a cadet level badge, being only the ring and no stars, could be set up for this project. The threshhold, I would suggest, being 100 hours in a single project.

Well my home page shows 20 projects with 250 hours, but no star, yet.

Anyone have any observations of the time required from final project reaching the badge goal to actual badge being credited to your account??

Now there is a single Silver star. Just had to wait for the next WuProp wu to be returned,

Just reached my 3rd star

Also passed a meaningless 10,000hours for Docking Charmm 34a2 10,019.20 0.73

A 4th star won't be coming my way any time soon, so I won't chase it. Instead I'll try to get higher colours for the first two stars.
Should manage to reach Green and Gold over the next month or so, and a Blue before the end of the year might be possible.
