I realize that such platforms are at the bottom of the priority list (if they're even on the list anymore) but I noticed that under the applications page, you have a version of Data collect v3 for "Mac OS X 10.3 or later running on Motorola PowerPC". I have a host that occasionally sees daylight, an iBook G3 running OS X 10.3.9 and BOINC 6.6.36, and I receive the message "Your BOINC client software is too old." when requesting work. However, 6.6.36 is the latest version of BOINC that will run on OS X 10.3; shall I assume that the Applications page should read "10.4 or later"? 10.4 will run 6.12.35, the last build of BOINC that will support OS X/PPC of any version.

Although I've not been a member here very long, I'd like to say that the data this project provides is especially useful to someone like me, who has a lot of old technology sitting around that still makes it onto the BOINC circuit every now and then. I was referred to the project by someone over at the BOINCstats forum, when I was asking about projects for PPC that are still active. It was very easy to use your database to find those projects, and I hope that my contributions will enable the same for others.

That said, if you need any assistance testing on older platforms, I have a bit of a hobby/disorder that compels me to keep obsolete technology around. I have on hand G3, G4 and G5 PPC Macs that run 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5.

Note: I am not familiar with OS X

This page do not show all versions of BOINC:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

All versions of BOINC:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/?C=M;O=A

Did you try some of 6.10.xx versions? e.g.:
boinc_6.10.58_macOSX_universal.zip

As stated previously (and on the BOINC "All Versions" page):

BOINC 6.6.36 is the last version to support OS X 10.3
BOINC 6.12.35 is the last version to support OS X 10.5 (and thus PPC)

I could try to install OS X 10.4 on the host in question so that I could run 6.12.35 (which works fine with WUprop) but it would not be the preferred option since 10.3 is a lighter OS and runs better on the meager hardware being used.

The question was posted, because on the WUprop applications page, support for 10.3 is advertised, but the scheduler reports that the last version of BOINC to support 10.3 (6.6.36) is too old.

All you say was already clear for me.
The question is why you believe what is 'stated'

E.g. I'm almost certain BOINC 6.10.58 can work on Windows 98 despite what is 'stated'
Especially if KernelEx is installed on Windows 98

So it may be a matter of some library you can install on OS X 10.3 to make it compatible with BOINC 6.10.58

(And my post was only to fill the gap while the admin here have time to answer you why "on the WUprop applications page, support for 10.3 is advertised, but the scheduler reports that the last version of BOINC to support 10.3 (6.6.36) is too old")

By some strange coincidence, I just uncovered a time capsule in the form of an old G3 iMac that came out of my Dad's garage... With BOINC 6.10.17 installed! So, obviously the last version for 10.3 was not 6.6.36 as the official downloads page suggested. I've got a post in to the BOINC forums to see if there is another newer version that will work--I'm assuming that it will be the last OS X version in the 6.10.x series. Also, if there is a particular reason to NOT use 6.10.17, and why the much earlier version is posted as official.

The good news: WUprop works just fine with BOINC 6.10.17 and OS X 10.3.9. I will post the results from my inquiry at the BOINC forum here.

It may have just been a pre-release and never officially declared a stable version.

I am careful to avoid pre-release versions--just in case something goes wrong, I don't always have timely access to all of the hosts I manage. I usually wait for a version to be released across all platforms (such as with the current 7.2.33) before making any upgrades. Also, the 6.10.x series had a number of releases, numbering all the way up through 6.10.58 for Mac, which according to this page should have been the first version to require 10.4. However, at this point I've tried versions back to 6.10.54 and their installers have claimed 10.4 as a requirement.

I'm hoping that someone over at the official BOINC forums can shed some light on the situation; which was the last version to actually support 10.3, and why a much older version is posted on the official downloads page when it's obviously causing some limitations with the projects. If I don't make any progress there, I could either do further testing of my own with the versions 6.10.18-6.10.53 or just work with 6.10.17 for the time being.

So, the "official" word from release notes is that 6.10.21 was the last version to support OS X 10.3. However I tried 6.10.21, 6.10.20 and 6.10.19 (6.10.18 was not released for Mac) and while the installer succeeds, BOINC manager crashes immediately upon install. Not sure what that's about. The installers for 6.10.22 and later report that they require 10.4 or later.

Looks like 6.10.17 was the answer, after all... If anyone else running 10.3 needs it, it's available from the repository:
