A REPLY IS REQUESTED ON BEHALF OF ALL WHO ARE ACTIVE USERS AT THIS PROJECT.

Sebastian,
What is going on with the project? There seems to be A LACK OF PROJECT OWNER/ADMINISTRATOR REPLIES TO OUR QUESTIONS AND PROBLEMS.

Below are just SOME of the (recent) things that need answers:

  1. Project going offline for hours at a time/Unable to Connect.
  2. Database crashes.
  3. Unable to report completed and/or get new work for hours at a time (due to #1 and/or #2).
  4. Missing Total Hours.
  5. Pending Hours not accurate.
  6. Transitioner backlog (hours) status has not been accurate for at least 2 months now.
  7. Long Term Detailed Activity Missing on ALL PC's/Device. (Only goes back to 2015-01-28. Used to go back to at least sometime in 2013 or earlier).

Other users feel free to add to this list of there is anything I missed.

From a post on another thread:

Einstein app "Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo)" is now been recognised by WuProp as "Binary Radio Pulsar Search", but I believe we're talking about the same app.

Please confirm.

Cheers

I did a bit more research on this and I found out that project 'Einstein@Home' has recently updated the application 'Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo') for the platform 'Android runnung on ARM'. Ever since this upate, WUProp has been recognising my contribution to this application with a different name: 'Binary Radio Pulsar Search'. I now have CPU hours accounted to 2 different apps that are actually the same.

Can you please correct this issue?

Thank you!

I am also wondering where the per computer activity history has gone to.

It used to be recorded from the 27/7/2013 but this has now changed to 29/1/2015.

I record all my computers hour history (per application) from this activity link associated with each of my computers, I have been doing this regularly for a long time now with my last update on the 17/2/2015.

I was about to do another update but I am not sure if I am now able to work out the Total hours each application has done on a per computer basis.

With the history now less than 2 months old anyone using this Activity link wont be able to work out how many hours they have done per application per computer.

Overall the project for me runs very well, yes there is limited feedback but we do get some comments from time to time, unlike some projects which seem to run on auto-pilot and never talk to volunteers.

I alone administer the project. I do not have time to reply to all requests. But generally, I solve problems.

Questions 1, 2, 3, 6: Problems should be solved. I migrate database on a second server.

Question 4 : ?

Question 5: In the future, I will remove this feature. I will re-write application. Hours will be count on each workunit report.

Question 7: Data are lost.

Thanks for the reply Sebastien,
I know you work hard to run this project and I reckon you do a good job of it.

It is a pity about the lost data, with a bit of work I should be able to continue recording each of my computers hours as I last updated this info back in February and this is in the time frame of the last few months that you now have data for.

Thanks again for running this project, it is a lot of fun tracking the various applications and seeing how much time I spend on them it really surprises oneself.

Dear Sebastian,

I would also like to thank you for the great job you do at managing this site and project. I drop by the home page quite often to check on my contribution for each project I volunteer, and without this project, I probably wouldn't be able to keep a track on how much time I give each app. Thumbs up!

I don't know if this can be fixed or not, but since I got no reply, I give the topic a little bump once again. There is some sort of a glitch with the android app not being able to recognise correctly the Binary Radio Pulsar Search app. In my case, it considered that there were two different apps with slightly different names.

Can you please take a look at it?

Thanks! And keep up the good work.

I also have a problem with the Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) app - when my raspberry pi completes a task, it sometimes giving me many hours - the last 2 WUProp WUs gave me 36 million hours each! Also, Enigma@Home sometimes goes weird, saying I have 0ver 107,000,000,000 pending hours...

I, for one, will miss the pending hours feature. I use it to gauge how much longer (in time) I will need to crunch a project before reaching a certain goal I have in mind. Using the cached WUs, I then can switch projects before I've reached the goal having estimated the amount of time crunching on cached WUs.

I agree, Steve, I like knowing how many hours I have pending, just to see how much I have that isn't completed, as well as knowing when my next goal has arrived - it really would be a shame to see it go, however, I would not let it disappearing put me off crunching for this project.

I would have liked this feature too if it was consistently accurate...

It looks like you've done this as all my pendings have gone to zero.

I found this feature really useful. Can you please rethink this?

Thanks

S.

With the new application, there are no pending hours.
When your host returns a WUProp Workunit, all hours will be counted, even if the workunits are in progress.

Ahhh - that clears thing up, Seb - that would be fine, having them automatically added - I was under the impression that, without the pending hour section, you wouldn't know how much you've crunched for an app until the workunit is done...

I am wondering, since we are getting rid of the pending hours column, would it be reasonable to ask for a column that shows running hours for the previous 24 hours. That is I like seeing where my (recent) cpu time is being spent. I have had on multiple occasions noticed, via the pending hours column, unexpected tasks being downloaded, run and finished while I was away from my computers.

Since the "pending" hours are going away would it be possible to keep the column and put a "X" in it if hours have been added during the past 24 hours? I have projects setup that don't always have work and I use that column to show me when work has started on a project. Then I can move resources.

OK. Well I wasn't going to admit this, but I don't even know which projects I've got crunching w/o the pending hours :). So, Bryan's solution is an excellent alternative. +2

I don't even know which projects I've got crunching w/o the pending hours :)

It's the same for everyone who crunches for more than a few projects; it's difficult to see which apps have work, without going to each projects server_status page, and then going round all your systems and checking they are hooked up, New Tasks are allowed in BM and you have selected the apps in your profiles and no new apps have turned up.

While you can click on each of your systems from your My Account page and see what has been running in the last 24h, it would be useful if that was tallied up across all of your systems and displayed in the Pending column (which could be renamed to Last 24h).

Just saw that Conan recommended this already,

I am missing the pending also. It was a good way to quickly evaluate what was going on. A last 24 hour would work just as well. Since many of us have several machines with CPU, GPU, ARM, etc projects running, a single place to give a little feedback went a long way.
