Bought a new Laptop & was wondering whether it's better to install BOINC on the Main SSD Boot Drive or the Secondary 1T SATA Storage Drive ??? Thanks If you have projects that are disk heavy then the SSD may provide a slight performance boost. However most project only write to the disk at a specific checkpoint interval. So any performance gains are likely to be minimal and would mostly come from how quickly the app/data loads or writes the result data. Some people don't like to put BOINC on an SSD because of the limited life of SSD flash. Personally I don't see that as a problem & place BOINC on the SSD for each of my systems that has one. My oldest SSD at 5yrs old had been running BOINC projects nearly 24/7 and has 93% remaining. Which is about 1.4% wear a year. It's hard to guesstimate how much of the wear is from BOINC and how much is from my normal use.

I went ahead & installed it on the 1T Drive last night, main reason being if the OS goes so goes the BOINC Files too if the Backup doesn't work either. Like you said not much performance gain using the SSD Drive though some may disagree ... Thanks

Suggest you turn off write caching on both disks & indexing on the HDD.

Suggest you turn off write caching on both disks & indexing on the HDD. Just curious why is that? SSD I understand, but why the 1 TB?

When W10 decides to automatically update and restart @3am or there's a brownout/laptops battery gets a nudge... you won't lose as much Boinc work/data - Windows doesn't always save work and shutdown gracefully!
