It would be worthless to run more than ONE task per PC at at time for this NCI project.

FROM THE HOME PAGE OF THE PROJECT https://wuprop.boinc-af.org:
About WUProp@Home

WUProp@home is a non-intensive project that uses Internet-connected computers to collect workunits properties of BOINC projects such as computation time, memory requirements, checkpointing interval or report limit.

Noticed the database error message had disappeared and detailed hours are back.

Just tried to get a task for my android device and got a "No work available" message. Also noticing that any web page takes forever to load and took multiple refresh to load the server status page which does not appear to have updated info.

//EDIT:
Appears there Still is a datbase problem:

Saw this error almost 6 hours ago but figuured it was a "temporary issue"... See it is still not fixed. Turning BOINC off network comms on my PC;s until it is fixed so as not to loose any hours.

After a brief look around the "project" web site ... I AGREE things look suspicious.

Will dig into the web registration etc and the underlying code of the site and post more here.

I see a new app on Free-DC missing hours page but no sticky post yet.

Project: E@H
App: Gravitational Wave All-sky search on LIGO O1 Open Data

https://einsteinathome.org/apps.php

Linux, Windows and Mac CPU only.

If you are talking about Gravitational Wave All-sky search on LIGO O1 Open Data (beta test) that is a BETA APP and probably a "fixed" BETA version of the app Continuous Gravitational Wave search O2 All-Sky that they stopped running within the last 2 months or so due to problems with the original app.

The BETA app noted above should automatically show up on list here once someone running Wuprop & the Einstein BETA APP at the same time have successfully returned the WuProp data after 6 hours.

Conan, Thank you for your monthly summaries!

BOINC-Netsoft stats site has a Summary of retired projects which seems pretty accurate. James should be updating the list soon with new entries.

It should fairly easy to copy/paste into a spreadsheet for sorting, formatting, and being able to post the output here.

The list here:

WCG exports aren't really needed for WUProp to collect the data and report it as WUProp isn't really pulling the data from WCG rather from your PC. Or at least that is how I understand it.

That appears to be CORRECT! My WCG project hourly stats are still being updated here at WuProp.

Duchamp / Sourcefinder shutting down
Hi Everyone,

So some bad news today. Kevin was recently talking with a few of the higher ups at ICRAR, and it's been decided that Sourcefinder is to be shut down along with POGS.

I've also received word that the the scientists no longer need the data that's been crunched by Sourcefinder. I find extremely unfortunate considering the amount of time and effort that both all of you and myself have put into this project over the last few years, but that's just the way it is.
It would've been nice to have been notified about this sooner, but sometimes that doesn't happen.

We'll still keep a store of everything that's been computed by Sourcefinder, because we may be able to find a use for it in the future.

I should also mention that within ICRAR there's a pretty heavy shift away from distributed computing methods such as BOINC, toward simply utilising the increasing processing power of supercomputers. With this in mind, it's fairly unlikely that ICRAR will be looking to start up any new distributed computing projects in the near future.

Regardless, a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to Sourcefinder. I appreciate everything you've done to help out on this project, especially considering how rocky a lot of it has been. I'm just sorry that we now don't have an immediate use for all of the data you've processed.

As with the POGS shutdown thread, I'll try to answer any questions anyone has.

Sam

POGS is complete
Hey everyone,

As a lot of you noticed, there haven't been any workunits for POGS for about a week.

I've been told by Kevin this morning that POGS has finished processing all the galaxies he needs.

Next up, we'll be looking at reviewing all of the processed galaxy data and preparing it for actual use.

Kevin tells me that the next step is to use the processed galaxy data to train an auto-encoder neural network to classify galaxies based on their features. We'll have a gigantic amount of training data ready for this task, so the prospects of positive results seem high.

Additionally, any research papers that ICRAR publishes using this data will contain an acknowledgement to the work done by everyone who contributed to POGS.

The POGS and theSkyNet websites are going to remain up for the time being, but Kevin is also looking to shut them down once everything has fully wrapped up. This is mainly due to monetary issues - it costs more than $2,000 AUD per month to keep the POGS and theSkyNet services running.

So I'm sorry about how abrupt this is, but we're all done. Thank you everyone for your contributions, great or small. Kevin and I do appreciate everything you've done, and we'll be sure to put all the data to good use.
I'm glad to have been able to help manage this project, even if it's only been one day a week for the most part. The community here has always been a good one.

I can try and answer any questions anyone has in this thread - I'm sure there'll be some.

Thanks again for everything,
Sam

The DistributedDataMining project is shutting down!

Dear ddm users,
we had a good run during the last years and the computing power which you provided enabled many researchers to achieve there scientific goals.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to invest as much time as I wanted into maintaining the ddm project and although the BOINC client was working fine most of the time, the page had more and more problems which were not addressed properly. I was thinking about shuting down the project many times but there was never the right moment.

Recently, this changed when a critical vulnerability of the Drupal content management system was publicly announced. Since the ddm website was running an old version of Drupal, no fix is available for this issue. As a consequence, I took the website down. There are no indications that the vulnerability was exploited. The actual BOINC server is running on a different machine and would not have been effected anyway.

I had the choice between (1) updating to the latest Drupal version including the time consuming re-integration of all the BOINC features and (2) shutting down the project for good. I decided that this is the right moment to let it come to an end. I simply do not have the time to operate the project in the way that you would deserve.

From now on, no new workunits will be generated. The remaining units will be distributed to the BOINC clients and the incomming results will be processed as usuall. The BOINC statistics which are frequently crawled by multiple websites will stay online for a while, so that your credits won't be lost.

Thank you for your understanding and all your support during the last years.

Best regards,
Nico

Is it happening on BOTH Win 10 PC's you have?

Enable HTTP Debug in your BOINC Event Log Options (Ctrl-Shift-F).

Then do a manual update for THIS PROJECT ONLY and post the communication results here from the Event log.

Once the update has completed turn this option off (Ctrl-Shift-F) to not clog your log file up.

What is project iedera? I'm not finding anything on it.

Closest I can find is linked below . It only mentions using BOINC apparently on a "closed system" to do some in house computations.

These results have been obtained with help of the computing power of the teaching computers of the FIL, they would probably never been obtained without the strong support provided by Mickael Carlier on BOINC.

Latin Squares seem to have some stable work right now, don't think that is showing up here yet.

Mentioned a few posts down in this thread.

Project is not accept gmail email addresses. I tried to create an account from the site and from BM. I changed it to hotmail and some made up user and it was created.

Strange, I had NO problems using Gmail for registering/to create new account.
20) Message boards : Number crunching : Please remove "CompositeGrid" from your database (Message 5729)
Posted 10 Nov 2017 by Dr Who Fan
If a project isn't a open Project then I think it should be completely removed from the WuProp data base as Michael Goetz requested some time ago.

COMPLETELY AGREE - This project's info should be REMOVED from WuProp's database.

SEE Message 3969 - Posted: 9 Jul 2016, 22:51:20 UTC
Michael Goetz wrote:
"CompositeGrid" is a totally bogus "project". I should know -- I run it.

It's PrimeGrid's development server, and NOTHING on there is valid. It's only used (rarely) for testing, and nothing on there counts.

Nobody should be picking up badges for "work" done there.

Anyone running tasks from that system is contributing to global warming and their electric bill, but doing nothing else that's useful.

I wipe the database there regularly, or set it up with whatever oddball configuration I need. None of the information that WUProp is gathering from my test server is meaningful.

It's not a "beta project". It's used to test our BOINC server software.

Thank you.
