Sigh, I made a mistake and admitted it. You act like I flat out lied on purpose to back up my argument and that wasn't the case. But what ever, your always right and every one must fall in line with your way of thinking.

Sigh all this just because a few people wanted a way to show the compute hours. I surrender, Coleslaw wins the forum flame wars. I got better things to do.

My mistake, it is indeed by sub project and not app. Then again several WCG project only run one app.

I'm not here for fight Coleslaw. Not sure why you want to be argumentative about it but what ever.

Well WCG also isn't breaking the run time down per app on their site either. However, yes they are the only project reporting the run times as described above.

OProject only reported the ALX app for run time.

But as Seb said above, he isn't planning on adding badges for total hours. So, the discussion is pointless.

Funny, my contributions to WCG are broken down by app when I look at "My Contribution" page on the WCG website.

Yes, we all saw what Seb said about new badges. Aside from me explaining what I meant in my original post in this thread I don't think we are talking about that any more. The conversation has moved onto discussing tracking hours and what projects actually do so. So evidently some of us don't find the discussion pointless.

Skgiven, I am well aware of WCG and how it tracks hours. I run WCG from time to time. It's not my major focus generally but I do and am running the projects they offer. But that is the only project I know of that even pays attention to compute hours. The vast majority of Boinc projects track points only.

I'm not real worried about keeping track of what I have run before I came across WU Prop. If a stat website would be able to come up with a way to track that retroactively that would be cool but its not a concern for me. I would just like to see our total hours reflected in some way here on WU Prop.

I don't know how we got off on adding in more stars, numbers, etc. But, all I was aiming at was a way to reflect the total hours we all have put into Boinc projects. You can find a large selection of websites and forum signatures that will tell you how many total credits you have. I don't know of any where else that actually keeps track of the hours of computer time you put into a project. If some one knows of such a website that tracks hours please link it.

Any way, reflecting the total hours you have contributed via a colored background on the existing badge was my suggestion. Not a new badge at all, just a modification of the one we have now.

I just had a similar thought. My version would place the circle/stars badge on a colored background in place of the normal white we have now. We could use your ranks scheme as it stands with the just the background color changing.

The one thing I would like to see changed from your idea is to drop the number of apps required. I would want this to reflect a total of hours and not have anything to do with number of apps. The number of apps is already covered in the requirements to get each star so no need to do it again.

Well now, guess I didn't understand it correctly after all. Thanks for the info. I'm not one to jump from project to project excessively so it will take me awhile to get 100 hours in 20.

I have been running this project for a while now and have yet to get a badge. If I understand it correctly I have more than enough hours across several projects to have gotten one by now. Did I miss something in account settings that I need to get a badge to show up?
