Just a small one, but just upgraded my second star to Silver overnight! I’ve done a fair bit of crunching (pales in comparison to others though!!), but tend to focus on fewer apps - I’ve got a WCG one up at 70,000 hours and a PG app turned emerald this week… Next goal will be nudging a few over the 100 hours mark to get that third star!

New badge here:

Just noticed I have a second Saphire badge, which means at least 40 apps with 5.000 hours. Must have been a few weeks ago, but a new "little" milestone for me. ;-)

Congrats! However 'mini' it may feel, that's 200,000 hours of computing (just shy of 23 years) of computing for each app - approx. 7 months of CPU time per one!

Next stop (should happen soon enough):

Congratulations Chris, I corrected the links to http as https embedded links are not supported on the forum apparently, so no one could see what you were talking about.

That Ruby star looks good, your next star (a Bronze) is only 3 applications away.

Conan

Perfect Conan - thank you! DIdn't even realise they weren't working, but that'll also explain why my signature was funny! All fixed now, and I'll know for when I need to post a new badge update ;)

5) Message boards : Number crunching : WCG Beta Apps (Message 7135)
Posted 14 May 2020 by Profile CaffeinatedSloth
Just noticed I have two Beta apps from WCG listed here - 'Beta' and 'Beta Test'. Are these intentionally separate or did WCG have a rename or something a while back?

I see that Beta Test is red and I haven't recorded activity on it for a long time, but Beta is active. Would it be possible to merge the two? (Assuming that they are not intentionally 2 separate projects)

Thanks,
Chris

I also get that this is Seb's project so he has the final say... However, despite my machine only being 4 cores, I have 125 instances of BOINC running. 1 of which runs Enigma, Goofy & WUProp, 124 of which currently just run Goofy.

I would love to put WUProp on the Goofy machines as well so I can track my hours (as my machine is legitimately crunching them. Yes, it possibly would make me look like I've done way more actual work than I have, but if I'm legitimately crunching the WUs (which you can see I am http://nci.goofyxgridathome.net/results.php?userid=24507&offset=0&show_names=0&state=4&appid=), why shouldn't I be able to log them on WUProp?

Even if you do what another user suggested and don't award stars for NCI projects or log them in a different table or something like that, I do feel it's needed to log the hours otherwise WUProp isn't getting an accurate image of how much work the projects are doing...

EDIT: When I say this, I mean that I would like to be allowed WUProp on ALL instances I run that are doing any form of work, whether that be NCI or CPU/GPU...

Excellent, thank you both!
8) Message boards : Number crunching : Max recommended clients? (Message 5671)
Posted 15 Oct 2017 by Profile CaffeinatedSloth
I meant clients as in instances of BOINC... So I currently have 100 instances on my laptop each doing 2 Goofyxgrid tasks (200 tasks an hour @ 10 credits each = a nice tidy 2,000 credits an hour). I also thought that I would be allowed to add a WUProp WU to each of these instances to log the hours I'm doing, as I am legitimately completing the hours, but I guess it does make sense that this isn't the case...

Hi all,

I recently added BOINCTasks to my laptop so that I could easily add a few more clients on it (have about 10 now to run mainly NCI work). I'm thinking of adding more, but don't want to impact the work of the ones I already have - what's the maximum recommended amount of clients per PC?

Since the NCI Monkeys WUs returned a day or so ago, I've been running them alongside my Enigma@Home tasks on my laptop. Since then, I've submitted 2 WUProp WUs. My E@H hours show up on my stats with no problem, but it doesn't appear that I have any hours being added for my Monkeys V1 or V3 at the moment (I have no tasks from V2 or V4)...

Any ideas what's up?

Cheers,
Chris

Hi all,

Myself and 22 other teens from the UK that attended the 2016 HOBY UK Seminar (http://www.hoby.org/) and wish to continues our HOBY Journey by attending the HOBY of all HOBYs - The World Leadership Congress, or WLC (http://www.hoby.org/programs/world-leadership-congress/) which is based in Chicago, Illinois!

We won't be able to achieve this goal without donations, as we have to raise a total of £55,000 so please give what you can, whether it be money, time, support or spreading the word of our cause.

We are all hoping to enhance our leadership skills throughout our journey as well as learning more about the skills and importance of giving back to the local, regional, national and international communities. We would also love to experience the different cultures of the worldwide HOBY family and learn about life in each country!

Thank you for helping us along our journey!
