I will also confirm that work units appear to be validating now.

Definitely wasn't set. Perhaps Seb should add that on the home page so others will know since it isn't prompted anywhere else...

All of my work units for my Android emulator are invalidating.
https://wuprop.boinc-af.org/show_host_detail.php?hostid=266682
https://wuprop.boinc-af.org/show_host_detail.php?hostid=266675

These are Android emulators that I have for other uses but have recently installed to test running the Parlea Android x86 work units. I find it odd that the work units are named android arm pie when it isn't on an ARM system. The application list page shows it as arm pie as well.

This is the application listed in my account that is being used: Data collect version 5 (BOINC 7.18+) v5.01 (android_arm_pie)

https://wuprop.boinc-af.org/workunit.php?wuid=134138425

But the ultimate problem is that all the WUProp work units are invalidating and not crediting. I know it has been a long while since we have had a project with Android x86 capable work (SETI was the last) but I'm not sure what the issue is. Any advice from the admin?

Operating System Android

Thanks Daniel for clarifying. I typically have between 25 and 30 Android phones crunching at any given time. Please let us know if they ever do release one.

I didn't think Milkyway provided an Android/ARM app... I thought you had to compile it yourself and use an app_info.xml file. I know NativeBOINC used an app_info.xml to get theirs to work.

Collatz removed Android/ARM from their app list. Most likely wasn't worth his time to maintain.

Edit: I also haven't seen the Android RakeSearch app mentioned above by mmonnin. I know Daniel made a Linux ARM app. mmonnin do you have the link? I'm assuming Android is what you meant since the OP was talking about BOINC for Android. If not, then please disregard.

A thank you to Conan and Coleslaw and a bunch of the experienced users that Post and Test and Support the DC community.

A little less than two years ago I stumbled into WUProp and the whole badge concept of supporting many projects and I got my first little Bronze star.

Today I got my fourth star and yes it too is Bronze, but it looks great in position #4

Thanks again

Not to mention there is nothing stopping anyone from setting up a project of their own or even several. Teams could set up a project allowing only teammates have access. There are just too many ways to skew such a badge.

According to announcements, WCG will launch a few new projects (apps) in the coming weeks/months. I'm sure I'll want to take them all past 5000h fairly sharpish.

Most probably it would be months, WCG has to release beta apps first.

WCG has to allow the export of their stats (due to GPDR) again first

WCG exports aren't really needed for WUProp to collect the data and report it as WUProp isn't really pulling the data from WCG rather from your PC. Or at least that is how I understand it.

I just add WUProp to my Androids by using BOINCStats BAM!. Works every time and is really simple.

Anyhow, you do realize that even if you had every boinc project on one client, you only need one WUProp account.

Yes you only need one account. That isn't what is being discussed. What is being discussed is that people were running multiple instances of WUProp work units. What is happening is that people wanted all of their runtime hours to count. And I honestly don't think it picks up all of the clients with the one work unit.

So, if I have a rig with 250 clients running (which I do). Each of those clients have 4 work units that are Non-CPU intensive each. I would therefore be running 1,000 work units on that host. I look at my times here, and it shows me with a total of ~700 runtime hours for the day. That is across all hosts I have whether physical or virtual. So, I'm not positive if WUProp was crediting them based on the actual CPU time used or wall clock, but I think people were trying to guarantee they got all the runtime hours rather than just WUProp points. I'm thinking it was based off of wall clock because looking at the numbers, it would line up with total number of physical and virtual hosts rather than total number of clients actually ran in my case.

Please tell me what "science" Grid Computing Center/Goofyx is doing?

Trying to find out if a monkey can type "Christmas" (app V2/V4) and how long it will take? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinite_monkey_theorem
Please!
Even if I'm also running this project for badges, I wouldn't define it as Science.

You answered your own question within your own definition that differs from most dictionaries. One cannot realistically argue that.

I find that the results produced by this project are only a best guess anyways. It does not tell me if someone overclocked their CPU. It does not tell me if they ran multiple work units on each device which can impact its results. Running multiple work units on a video card is no different than running multiple clients for NCI projects. Why? because by your logic they are following those same rules. It doesn't matter if they are cpu intense or not. Every project stresses the system different. They run different. They use different resources. If maximizing my GPU to its fullest is ok by running multiple work units then I should be able to the same on my CPU. Regardless of CPU intensive levels. That isn't cheating. That is utilizing your hardware to its fullest for the sake of the project. Yes it is something point seakers look at. But it is something people who want to maximize their resources look at as well. Who are you to determine that something like that is "cheating". What gives you that right? "Science" was performed and was not "faked". WUProp may not be able to report the way it wants to. But it never has been fully accurate since the beginning. And it never will be unless it can gain all of those individual system difference. Even then, it would be too much data to filter through.

I think Seb (who is the only person to develop and maintain and support the project since the beginning) has been really affected by the aggressiveness of some users here and the continuous effort he had to produce in order to avoid cheaters to produce fake data into WUProp (just so they can get more stars maybe ? I'm not even sure I understood why there were doing this actually) and after posting some warnings here, he just gave up... which is sad and terrible. Because, you understand it well, nobody will be able to replace him on this project.

At the end we (at l'AF) will accept his choice anyway, we are just really sad about it, and don't loose hope that he may reconsider his decision in the future.

What fake data? The results are typically legit. The work units were ran and unaltered. The data got reported. How is that fake results? What you should be saying is that people weren't running projects the way a very small group of individuals think they should run them and label it as "cheating". Again, that concept is only in the minds of few as the results are no different from anyone else's results. Cheating is when someone doesn't do the work but still claims the credit.

Should we expect to see the GCC times and stat's removed from WuProp soon ?

Bill F

I hope not, as I would lose my only light blue applications (over 50,000 hours, I only have 2) and I have only been running what the project originally set up (4 apps (v1,v2,v3,v4 per computer), as I never worked out how you can run multiple instances of BOINC Client, I haven't bothered to try and change anything.
Other people change things, but I get nervous.
So I just follow the rules.

I still have a lot of hours clocked up that I would not want to lose, it has taken me a long time to accrue those hours.

I was just about to ask if Charity Engine was able to be attached to a client. It won't attach for me with user or email.

You have to use the Charity Engine Client to attach, I haven't been attached to them for quit awhile now because they seem to try & take over your BOINC Client so I avoid them now.

Email confirmation said the BOINC client could be used.

Looks like it's not attached as a project but as an account manager. It seems to not be it's own project but just sends work from other projects? If it wasn't in the BOINC client how would WUProp monitor it?

http://www.charityengine.com/node/792

Don't know, I know I had to use their client to run the project when I ran it, haven't run it in a few years so things may have changed since I ran it ...

Since pretty much day one, CharityEngine allowed people to use the BOINC client by merely using it as the account manager. I had never used their client. And yes, this is how WUProp gets the info unless there was some oddity where WUProp was in the BOINC client also pulling from another clients info. If that is the case, then would be a huge privacy concern...

Run time hours are not affected here by the projects doing backups/losses/etc... They are collected by the WUProp application and tallied here. If it were points being listed on a stats site, then yes that could change things. But the run time hours collected here not so much.

Unfortunately the one system on my list without a sensor was given away a long time ago but allowed to leave BOINC on it. However, those projects were manually added a very long time ago and unable to be pulled with BAM!. So, are you saying that host was responsible for the loss of 20k hours on both those QCN projects?

I had quite a few hours pulled as well. And they were not from multi-clients as suggested by the admin during his latest crusade. The badges hold little merit these days.
