Anybody know why GoofyX Monkeys v1 is showing as active? I don't see anything in the auto news about it being active.

I don't seem to get any news from WUProp pushed through to my clients. I don't see anything in the settings in regards to this.

Point me to the right place if I missed something.

TIA, Yav

Is it still going to be 6 hours monitoring? I just found out about the new app (just missed the announcement last check-in) and at the current rate it doesn't, but BOINC can be funny with times and I know the old app would just keep incrementing the time remaining.

Thank you for the new Android client. My little legion of Droids are happy to be counted once again.

Onward Ho!

Just curious if anybody is working on updating/creating an Android app. The little Droid Guys want to share in the reporting too. :)

I was noticing on one of my Androids that the server is telling the client to back off for 7 seconds. I don't think I ever seen less than a minute. Maybe somebody mixed up seconds for minutes?

Irregardless, that's a lot of activity on the server with all these Android devices attempting to reconnect every 10 seconds or so.

After a few weeks of reflection, I decided to continue hosting the project.

Yeah!!!

Every BOINCer should be using this; bragging to your non-BOINC friends and family that your computers put in 100,000 hours of work on COVID-19 research is way more understandable than "I earned 100k credit at WCG".

Credit? We get credit? I can at least get some cool swag with it, right??

My Android 10 works fine. I've noticed that some of the newer versions of Android may need a few attempts before the correct file to run WUProp is downloaded.

Tab S6 Lite here. I will try attaching again and see if WUProp figures it out.

Well, WUProp only reports in every 6 hours. My logic might be off, but if you wanted to absolutely check, start WUProp at the same time on each server and then after 24 hours, check the report.

Incidentally, NCI doesn't always give you all 4 WUs. Sometimes it misses one or two. I don't know if it's just an instance or within a certain timeframe it happens. But times that 1 or 2 by a bunch of machines...

Apparently you don't follow the project as the project hasn't had a history of stability. GCC went down last year due to hardware failures and GoofyX has been trying to get things working again coupled with being hospitalized over the holidays. I think GCC is on hold till be can get NCI and CPU stable. Then he wants to combine them under one banner, but separate projects (like yoyo@home). Then maybe then GCC might make a return...but he hasn't said last I saw.

But, all that's mostly really beyond the scope of the original intent of this thread... :)

Please tell me what "science" Grid Computing Center/Goofyx is doing?

Trying to find out if a monkey can type "Christmas" (app V2/V4) and how long it will take? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinite_monkey_theorem

When we reach an infinite number of monkeys, we'll know. ;)

'Science' has always been objective. Fool's errands exist until something new is discovered, then suddenly it's a new field of study.

Is there a way to get the GPU credits in general by project?

If not available here, does anyone have a resource for this?

Is it possible to have the project name in the New / Intermittent applications an URL. Sometimes we just can't figure out what some of these projects are... such an example:

The application Virtual Machine for VASP (protected edition) from project prediction is active

What's this 'prediction' project anyways, you know?

Thanks

(for each of Linux, Mac, and Windows there might be one each of a 32 bit CPU, a 64 bit CPU, an Nvidia GPU, and an AMD GPU app version.) Over the life of an application, as the software evolves and is updated, there may be hundreds of app_versions, although most will be deprecated and no longer in use.

I was thinking on it and understand a Windows client is doing the same thing as the Mac client as the Linux client... But I wonder (and I'm relatively new on it) is GPU clients. I've seen where it's the same app but does a deeper analysis or crunches mores #s (so to speak). Is that part of the same app or is it a different app?

Offhand, without delving into each project, I can't speak as to how they're listed or how any GPU clients may differ...

I just found out shortly ago completely by accident when I went on Free-DC and wondering what this Stop@Home project was doing on my list.

How the heck are you suppose to know the URL changed unless you find a post someplace or stumble across like I did??

Then there's all those clients out there trying to hit the old URL...

What distinguishes an "application" from a "version"?

Sofar, it only seems if a project lists an application separately which seems kind of hazy in defining it...
