Adding WUProp on old Android devices
(Message 11626)
Posted 15 Jun 2025 by Garrulus glandarius Post: Step 1: Use a recent BOINC version (partially due to bundled Internet certificates; older BOINC will have older certificates, and some may have expired by now). As of this post, the most recent version is 8.2.1. (Note: The oldest device I have running 8.2.1 is an Android 9 Phone; it's the oldest device overall that I have. For tablets, I have one, running Android 15.) Man, I would never have figured out that to add projects by URL you have to open the "Projects" menu, and not the (otherwise logical) "Add project" submenu... I was running 8.0.2 on all mentioned devices, ugraded to 8.2.1 on my current phone (Android 13) but I managed to add WUProp on an old phone (Android 9) and 2 tablets (Android 4.4.4) still running 8.0.2 without issues. Already got 4 validated tasks on the new phone and 2 tasks each on the old devices. Got one more tablet (Android 6) that needs fixing tomorrow, but I don't expect any issues. Thanks a lot for your detailed help! p.s.: Yeah, I did the version upgrade straight from the official BOINC site. |

Adding WUProp on old Android devices
(Message 11622)
Posted 14 Jun 2025 by Garrulus glandarius Post: Sorry for the dumb question, but no matter how I searched, I couldn't find any usable information about adding WUProp on Android. It doesn't show up among available projects (not even on my new-ish phone) and I didn't find a place where I could manually add the project based on its URL. Is there some elaborate workaround to make WUProp run on Android, especially old tablets? |

Posted 12 Jun 2025 by Garrulus glandarius Post: I talked to the people who sold them & they agreed to give me a 50% refund+ they were shipped from China Seems like you got bamboozled. If the product were legit they would either: a) ask for serious proof that they are duds and either give a full refund or weasel out of it b) be good guys and give a full refund, no questions asked 50% refund is just enough to make you give up without feeling too bad about it and they still made a hefty profit. |

New app on Denis@home
(Message 11615)
Posted 12 Jun 2025 by Garrulus glandarius Post: How long does it usually take for new apps to be tracked? I just added WUProp to all my rigs right when a batch of DENIS fiber 1.00 tasks got released. The first WUProp tasks have finished and they only counted the hours for the beta version of the app. |
