I'm good. I think nearly all my 261 pending have zombie as wingman.

Tasks ran out yesterday. Only thing left are timeouts/resends.

I got a few tasks overnight and this morning am over my 100 hours minimum. WOO HOO!!

As for getting or sending tasks back I've had no problems at all, now I didn't sit there and watch it all day long but everytime I went into the room it's in it was doing just fine. I'm running the latest version of Linux Mint with 16gb of ram and the cpu is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz with 4 cores, I'm using all 4 cores to crunch along with wuprop and Ithena and it just works.

Right now it is running out of work though.

I just did an update and got a new task, the Server Status page says 344 tasks available.

Anybody have a script I can use for the Python Wu's. I have 1 box that will only run 1 Python Wu & nothing else but I'm not getting credit for it using 8 cores if that's what it's doing. It has 32gb of memory so it should be able to run other projects too while running the 1 Python Wu IMO ...

I ran 2 Python units at a time on an I7 with 22gb of ram, only using 1 core each 2 cores total, and didn't have any problems. I used an app_config.xml file to limit the number of Rosetta tasks running at one time.

<app_config>
<project_max_concurrent>2</project_max_concurrent>
</app_config>

I then also ran 1 WCG Africa rainfall task at the same time, as on the Mac they take nearly 5gb of ram by themselves.

I got some tasks to download. But other tasks "transient HTTP error".

I got some too on my Linux laptop, they are Linux only, and they are taking about 2+ hours each according to the initial estimates

It affects all projects. The official fix is at BOINC's website

Thank you!!
6) Message boards : Number crunching : a way to only get a certain type of task at a Project (Message 8453)

At least Rosetta doesn't seem to have a penalty for failed/aborted tasks. The rosetta app used to always run for 6hr and abort on my ryzen system. Duration was set to 1hr and the mini rosetta tasks ran fine. So the rosetta tasks were aborted. If the project can't add an app selection to project preferences then that's what they get. That seems like a simpler implementation than a task duration.

I'd probably run some python tasks as well for hours but I can't get just those.

I just kept aborting tasks until I got some, on my systems they are projected to only last for about 6 hours each but I have 2 running right now that are over 30 hours!! Each task reserves 8gb of ram so on my laptop with only 16gb of ram I only run 1 at a time but on my MacPro with 24gb of ram I run 2 at a time. The laptop is Windows and the tasks are taking between 8k and 16k seconds each, the MacPro is old and the I7 cpu is not nearly as fast.

no it would not

this controls how many tasks the client will run

it has no impact whatsoever on what gets downloaded, which is a purely server side decision

And that's what my research, including the same comment from Michael Goetz an Admin at PrimeGrid, has shown! Oh well back to aborting all the wrong tasks!!

Is that the same certificate or another one that's incompatible with other projects?

I don't know, I'm not doing SRBase right now so it's not a problem for me

1. catch at least one necessary task, you have to get:
a) a set of binary for the application
b) description of the app_version in client_state

2. create an app_info for the desired application

That could be it but I don't know how to write it yet, I will do some checking and see what I can find.

I think I'm closer but not quite there yet with this from my time on NanoHub:

<app_config>
<app>
<name>boinc2docker</name>
<max_concurrent>8</max_concurrent>
</app>
</app_config>

Maybe this with the names being correct?
<app_config>
<app>
<name>ithena_cnode</name>
<max_concurrent>0</max_concurrent>
</app>
<app>
<name>ithena_perf</name>
<max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent>
</app>
</app_config>

Would that make the project send me zero tasks for the first type of app and send me 1 task at a time for the 2nd app? Assuming I got the names right of course.

I know there is a way to avoid getting the 'wrong' kind of tasks at a Boinc Project but does anyone have the actual cc_config.xml file, I can figure out the actual name in most cases, but need the file as a starting point. I'm talking about Projects, like Rosetta for me right now as I try to get only Python tasks, but also at other Projects that chose not to employ the task type selection, GpuGrid is another example, and as I try to get more apps over the 100 hour mark not having to delete dozens of the wrong types of tasks would help alot. Micro-managing is a pain in the butt with soo many apps.

... and of course, that breaks .... SRBase: invalid certificate from BOINC clients

someone will eventually fix this too.

They posted a fix here:

Can't believe it, but finally I managed to start the 5th badge (which btw. took over ten month to achieve).
In other words, the 21st bronze star stands for 420 apps with over 100 hours. ;-)

WOO HOO and WOW!!!

After a long, long time I have gotten my first project past 100,000 hours (purple star), being TN-Grid Platform.

Damn, that’s one hell of an accomplishment. Congrats! I just reached 100,000 hrs total today... will take me a lot of time and/or some serious upgrade along the way to get me there. [/b]

Woo Hoo for you too!!! 100k is a big milestone!!

I have the same problem with most projects now. Only World community grid seemed to still be working on my "Windows" machine. It's a Windows thing it seems. I only noticed today, hopefully a fix until a new Boinc version. Didn't try yet maybe tomorrow with the Formula boinc sprint challenge. You need to install a file in the boinc directory. Check ☑ that link 🔗 for the explanation and to download the file. Hopefully it works again after installing that file.

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=14422

Go here and wait for the link to say Download then click on it and it will be stored in your usual downloaded files folder and then double click it to run it and things should be mostly back to normal again. Some people say to exit and then restart Boinc, and I did as Boinc needs to read the file to act on it and it does that at startup. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-zirSeFwap21lRABRLD6k_nlOHlXRLFe/view

To get another 19 apps to that level could take a very long time or a lottery win.
