Asteroids
(Message 9552)
Posted 15 Jan 2023 by Link Well, they don't just call it the same name, it is the same application doing same work and generating same results, just running on different type of processor. That's same for all projects, not just Asteroids. plan_class is different for every application version, even two different CPU versions have different plan_class, for example SSE2 and AVX or whatever (or different platform). Same for different GPU versions. But all those app versions are the same application from BOINC's point of view, you can see that in your client_state.xml, you have one <app> and one or more <app_version> tags, all of them with same <app_name> in them, just different <platform> and/or <plan_class>, which is optional btw., my Milkyway CPU app does not have any <plan_class> since it's the only CPU app version. |

News of Projects and Apps Starting and Ending...
(Message 9539)
Posted 9 Jan 2023 by Link Parlea is only not added because it wasn't exporting it's stats last I checked. A good reason not to add them is the fact, that they even not write on their homepage who they actually are, no info on people or organzation. The translation of the describtion is "distributed computing test project that aims to investigate the efficiency and behavior of mobile devices as computing nodes on the BOINC platform for solving the orthogonal diagonal Latin squares (ODLS) search problem" and states Android 4.1 as requirement, but they have only an application for Windows PCs. So what they are doing actually? No forums to ask anything either. So no idea why someone would let a project like that use their computer ressources or even just enter his email adress on their page as currently the project isn't trustworthy at all. This concerns are IMHO by far more important than the project's TLD. |

(Message 9534)
Posted 8 Jan 2023 by Link Any particular reason why the data from my GTX 275 is not making it to the results page? It appeared in the list few days after I visited http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/gpu.py after installing it, it crunched well over 4000 Milkyway WUs since than (hours are counting), but the list remains empty. There are results in the list from a GTX 260, so it shouldn't be "too old" like my HD 3850 apparently was. My Android should be also visible under Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, large) by now, after over 1000 hours. It's disappearence from Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) seems completed and there was no significant break when switching to the new app, just few minutes. |

Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, large) & Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, GPU)
(Message 9426)
Posted 25 Nov 2022 by Link I'm running now the "large" WUs from Einstein's Binary Radio Pulsar Search on my Android device (using annonymous platform), this created a new app called "Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, large)", which is actually the current name for the application, instead of counting it to the old "Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, GPU)", which has no GPU apps at all right now. I don't mind having two different apps in my profile, however you might want to fix it as it is simply wrong and might be confusing to others, the current applications are these, the names in client state are <name>einsteinbinary_BRP4</name> <user_friendly_name>Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo)</user_friendly_name> and<name>einsteinbinary_BRP4G</name> <user_friendly_name>Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, large)</user_friendly_name> That's from my desktop computer, which counted to the "GPU" app, that's exactly what I entered into the app_info.xml file for my Android. |

(Message 9419)
Posted 17 Nov 2022 by Link I had checked the application list and it showed that Windows 98 or later, which includes Win XP was still a valid OS (and it still does list it as of this morning the 17th). Yes, this should have been updated in the same moment as the app. And than of course the server should not send any WUs to computers, which are not anymore compatible with the app. |

Posted 5 Oct 2022 by Link Another project DATABASE outage for several hours today and the negative hours are showing up again. I don't get negative hours, but everytime someone writes here about it, I get way too few hours for Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo), where I have a single core Android crunching 24/7. |

Posted 26 Sep 2022 by Link That is just the stderr output, the result files are send separately. No idea if that's an issue, but they are valid. The stderr output of the missing Celeron J4115 looks "normal". I think only project admin can see what's going wrong. |

Posted 25 Sep 2022 by Link Maybe a similar question has come up before, then please a hint/link to it. Yes, this is the thread about this issue. Only here under Results they are not to be seen, although they were once displayed. Do you mean the "your computers" pull down menu? Yes, I'm still missing there one of my recently active computers too and like your Celeron J4115, it's not existing in the results at all. All other of your CPUs can be found in the results at least, I can't tell however wether your results are in there or not since I can't see what projects each of your computers is running. |

(Message 9295)
Posted 10 Sep 2022 by Link "Arecibo, Large" is the current name of BRP4G, previously called "Arecibo, GPU", see applications page. This looks OK and the data seems to be available also if you select one of the CPUs. Perhaps wrong name, no idea if it needs to be fixed here or at Einstein, but in genaral it's usable for those interested. This however looks quite broken, not to mention, that all those Intel GPUs are not selectable under http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/gpu.py. So it's actually BRP4 that needs more attention. |

Posted 25 Jun 2022 by Link 1. My GPU is still missing together with the entire AMD HD 3000 series, I can't even see it on http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/gpu.py. I reported the issue the 17th Jan 2021, that's nearly 1.5 years ago. It's identified by BOINC without any issues: AMD ATI Radeon HD 3800 (RV670) (512MB) driver: 1.4.1734 This section of client_state.xml does look OK too, seems to detect everything right, even including the double precision capability: <coproc_ati> <count>0</count> <name>ATI Radeon HD 3800 (RV670)</name> <available_ram>503316480.000000</available_ram> <have_cal>1</have_cal> <have_opencl>0</have_opencl> <peak_flops>921600000000.000000</peak_flops> <CALVersion>1.4.1734</CALVersion> <target>3</target> <localRAM>512</localRAM> <uncachedRemoteRAM>2047</uncachedRemoteRAM> <cachedRemoteRAM>2047</cachedRemoteRAM> <engineClock>720</engineClock> <memoryClock>900</memoryClock> <wavefrontSize>64</wavefrontSize> <numberOfSIMD>4</numberOfSIMD> <doublePrecision>1</doublePrecision> <pitch_alignment>256</pitch_alignment> <surface_alignment>4096</surface_alignment> <maxResource1DWidth>8192</maxResource1DWidth> <maxResource2DWidth>8192</maxResource2DWidth> <maxResource2DHeight>8192</maxResource2DHeight> <atirt_detected/> </coproc_ati>
OK, but that does not explain, why currently active computers are not making it back on the list.
I'm talking about the CPU here, crunching Einstein "Gamma-ray pulsar search #5" day by day. It doesn't make much sense, that times between checkpoints are available for this CPU for 3 different apps and two different OS types (Windows 32 bits and 64 bits), but no run times, there must be something wrong that leads to missing data. All hosts and the applications they run are visible in http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/activity_24h.py, however part of them is missing on the results page. |

(Message 9163)
Posted 25 Jun 2022 by Link My GPU is again not available on the results page after it had some vacation. Actually the entire Radeon HD 3000 series is gone. Another 10 months gone, nothing has been fixed. Actually it has got a lot worse since my last post and even more data is missing on the results page. 1. My GPU is still missing together with the entire AMD HD 3000 series, I can't even see it on http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/gpu.py. I reported the issue the 17th Jan 2021, that's nearly 1.5 years ago. 2. 5 out of 7 of my computers have disappeared recently from the my computers pull down menus on the result page, even the Pentium M ist gone even it is active sometimes for couple of days (running than 24/7 and crunching Einstein). Hours are counted, but no data makes it to the result page. 3. The CPU time for my C2D is not available on the results page even though it is crunching Einstein for several hours every day (they are counted in my account). Eventually the time between checkpoints is available for this CPU. Long story short: out of my four currently running devices, only my Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray seems to be available on the results page. Well, at least I hope it is my, otherwise there's nothing. While checking this I noticed all Intel GPUs are gone from the results page, in the category "GPU credit" even all GPUs are gone and it is completely useless right now. I don't have any Intel GPU, but I strongly doubt that no one is submitting data for them here. |

Posted 1 May 2022 by Link Most of mine have been off-line for over a year so I'm guessing they qualify as 'new' ones. They qualify as new if you deleted BOINC data folder on them so they got a new host CPID. It doesn't matter how long they have been turned off as long as the server can recognize them, even detaching and reattaching usually doesn't trigger a new project host ID if the CPID didn't change. |

Posted 17 Apr 2022 by Link It could also be how the new volunteers are allocated, if someone is doing this and somedays just can't for whatever reason I doubt someone is sitting there and adding the hours to our stats by hand, this is done by software on the server and this obviously isn't runnig properly since the introduction of the shorter WUs (what's the point of them?). as long as in the end I do get what I'm supposed to get Hard to verify currently, but probably we get what we are supposed to get, but not sure. |

Posted 15 Apr 2022 by Link Yes, seems something is often getting stuck and catching up later, now my Xperia has 25.97 hours last day, which is not possible for a single core device. Never seen this so far. Perhaps they should get back to the 6 hours WUs, with them everything worked fine. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" seems to apply here too. |
