Ding! 100 projects at 5k hours. My badge will show all 5 blue stars with the next update. Am I second? Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

Good on you Zombie67. Congratulations to you for being the 2nd to get the top level and to STEVE for being the first. There are only 15 users in the top 400 that have reached all 5 stars and next closest to get all 5 Sapphire stars will be Shaman who has 4 Sapphire and a Silver. Meanwhile little old me only needs one more project to get my 5th star, not a Sapphire like STEVE and zombie67, just a Bronze, but I will be happy with it just the same. Conan |

Thanks! I forgot to add that my hypothetical 6th star is red, my 7th is gold, and my 8th is bronze. ;) Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

A hard act to follow! Especially when just posting a first Green Need 9 for Blue, 9 for Red, 9 for another star and 14 for a second gold. So it could be a while before I follow up this post... |

Finally have all 5 Stars, now with a Bronze being added during the week. Also added a second Ruby Star as well. Now to change all the colours to Sapphire. Conan |

Conan said: There are only 15 users in the top 400 that have reached all 5 stars and next closest to get all 5 Sapphire stars will be Shaman who has 4 Sapphire and a Silver. Oooohh, I got all excited because I've got all five stars. Then I realised I'm not even in the top 1,000. <sob> Inspired though, by my neighbor Zombie and by namesake STE\/E (love the use of slashes!!), I set out to get all five as quickly as possible. I've crunched on over 140 applications and even I'm beginning to think the star system needs a realignment. Anyway, I'm now targeting a sapphire - see y'all in 2017!! (Solar Eclipse next door or a Sapphire, close call) |

Oh hey, I came home to a fancy second star. Sweet. Time to go for gold on my first. |

Finally, after picking projects that ended abruptly (some without much or any warning) and having to choose another project, losing a machine, team challenges, other challenges, I have finally made my first sapphire star. Which would have been to top star not too long ago. For those of us who have certain focuses it's harder to get badges here. Trying to get a second star for me may be a long way out. I doubt I will ever have more than a couple of stars or get much higher than whatever color they are calling the pink one this week. My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

Congratulations on the blue Pooh Bear, and I concur, it's too difficult to keep track of all the live apps, know which apps are ending and crunch accordingly. If the live apps were highlighted in 'Your account' it would be useful, as would some sort of a suggested apps and projects system. Some projects only have one app that will run for years, other projects run apps for a few weeks before moving on unannounced... Despite being a choosy cruncher I have 14 apps below 100h that will probably never progress and at least 10apps above that that have been deprecated. Many other apps are intermittent and some projects are dead. All in all, this is too much like hard work for me. Maybe if I start using BAM! it will make it easier to select which projects I crunch for? Anyway, finally turned my second star to Red last night - My next three targets are now Blue (still a long way off), Yellow (some projects down so will have to wait), and a fourth star (until I added climateathome today nothing much had happened down there for weeks - still don't know where I'm going to get another 8apps, that I care to crunch)... |

FWIW, I have a list of NCI apps that might be of interest. You're supposed to have a accelerometer to make these work. I do, so I don't know if you can run the app without the sensor - I haven't tried on my non-OSX machines. On each of my MacBooks I'm running: La Red de Atrapa Sismos La Red de Atrapa Sismos Continuo QCN Continual Quake-Catcher Network Quake-Catcher Network (Taiwan) Quake-Catcher Network Continual (Taiwan) Quake-Catcher Network Continual EMSC/SCEM Quake-Catcher Network EMSC/CSEM Some earn credit, some don't, some earn credit but don't publish. All accumulate hours. Radioactive also needs a sensor and these are like hen's teeth to get. However, I found that the NCI app will run on Linux even without the sensor (I had my sensor plugged in but the app didn't recognize it yet carried on anyway) Attic Proxy runs as NCI yet never finishes. Even when you're some time past the due date, the system aborts it for you and resends the same WU and off you go again. Free hours if you want them. No credits though. I'm sure there's other NCIs out there that I haven't found. I don't know if any of these meet your care to crunch requirements. |

All of those apps will run and accumulate hours even if you don't have the sensor. Note that for the purposes of WUProp, this isn't "cheating", as it uses the same CPU, RAM, bandwidth, etc regardless of whether you have the sensor or not, so the data you provide is still valid. You'll not return points for that project, though. |
