I now finally have my 15th star that's 300 applications over 100 hours each, no GPUs and no VMs as yet but the VMs I may try soon.

Amicable Numbers (Double Check) did not get me there as the work units ran out but odlk3 got me over the line.

Congrats for completing your third badge, Conan.

After a few minor upgrades over the last months it looks like I got the 4th badge with the 16th bronze star over night now.

Congrats DoctorNow and Conan.

With a little NV GPU (CUDA + OpenCL) & running the VM apps you could add another star if not two.

A $15 android phone would help as well for Rosetta android apps.

Micro Collatz Conjecture can be done on a CPU as well.

That would be new to me. I've tried that several times with different computers since it is out but never got anything. I guess there's a server side check that this app is only delivered to appropriate devices.
As far as I heard/read the WUs for this app take only a few seconds anyway.

This app also has Raspberry Pi version. You can buy this device or a similar one like Odroid XU4. I have two Odroids XU4 and they work fine for me. Also they have fan, so they are better suited for crunching, unlike other devices which have radiator only.

BTW, Einstein and Albert also have ARM-only apps. However Albert's app does not work on Odroids (too new OS), so I used Tinker Board to get some hours. These apps also do not work on new Androids (5 and higher) because they require PIE app version.

Ralph and Rosetta also have Android-only apps.

It is possible to run Android on Odroid XU4 too, so you can try it too. I did not do it however, used my smartphone instead.

I ran it on my tablet but it looks like it might be 32bit only for Windows plus the Android/Pi versions.

Message 5341 - Posted: 7 Jul 2017, 14:00:24 UTC - in response to Message 5175.

Due to the amalgamation of some applications (Goofyxgrid (Monkey v1,v2,v3,v4) with GCC (Monkey v1,v2,v3,v4) + possibly some others, a lot of people lost applications as well as Stars. So even with a number of new applications some people lost ground over the month.

Myself (that's me Conan) I lost my 15th star and still need another 3 apps to get it back, Maurice Goulois lost his 10th Star, Steve Dodd lost his 11th Star, UlrichZeller lost his 13th Star, alez[TSBTs Pirate] lost his 14th Star, also DoctorNow lost his 16th Star gained like me only a week or so ago.

Some people have added a large number of new applications and jumped a few positions as a result.

Lets see how you fared last month.

Bok's "Free-DC" web site shows your hours and how you rank against others (you must allow for the hours export in you account preferences, there is no security problems as no one can access your account).
Just allow the export and as you pass 180 applications I can add you to this list.

Since last month

taurec and respawner both lost their 9th stars which drops them off my list till they get enough apps to get their stars back.

Places are swapping around on the list.

Bok has created a new listing which can help you find apps to run, you have to allow the data export so he can gather information for you.

Congratulations to all the people who earned new badges over the last month, and I hope I didn't miss anybody, scanning the stats list to find people and going in and counting all there apps does take time. Placing them in this list takes even longer.

On-wards with the fun.

People with 200 or more applications and at least 10 Stars.

The number of people that have now gotten to 200 Applications or more (applications that have passed 100 hours each) and the number of Stars each has gotten has changed a bit I last updated this list in November 2016.

23 more people have reached 200 applications and gained 10 Stars.
Quite a few people have increased their Star and application totals.

I can't give exact totals of the applications because not everyone exports their hour data (you can allow this in your account).

For this list I will not be giving exact app numbers just what is indicated by the amount of stars people have, just to keep it even.
People underlined allow hour export and are on my number of applications list.

Nearly everyone on this list will have processed many more applications than listed but not enough yet to get to the next star level.

This list shows there are a few big players that would change the order that my number of applications list (another post, this thread) is showing people. But as those big players don't allow data export, I don't know their exact app number I can't list them.

It takes a lot of effort to get to 200 applications but as you can see some people have gone way beyond 200 and even passed 300 and 400 applications.
18 people have passed 300 applications, and 4 have passed 400.

When this project started I didn't think there were enough applications to get to 100 applications (the original highest badge level was 5 Sapphire Blue Stars, first achieved by STEVE but about a dozen people have now reached that level and some have even passed the next level, Pink).

It is all a bit of fun, and I like statistics.

...

Need 4 app updates for a Lime star, 1 app for Magenta, 2 for an Emerald, 6 for gold and 14 for an 18th star (unless I lose more stars).
So I now need to recover my Magenta and Emerald to get back to where I was, though I've added a 5th sapphire.
I'm a little closer to some but further away to a few more...

Recovery II episode 2
The Emerald Recovery,

...
-->
...

Need 3 app updates for a Lime star, 1 app for Magenta, 6 for gold and 13 for an 18th star (unless I lose more stars).
Only need to recover my Magenta to get back to where I was before the mergers/cull. While I reached my 5th sapphire, the changes left me ~4apps further away from an 18th star and some lower updates.
After the 3 obvious updates there wont be much on my horizon for a long time.

I have the 20 apps needed with just a handful of hours needed to get that last app over 100 hours to get my first star ! .... This is my Android only account!

That app is "ralph@home - Rosetta Mini for Android" .. and hope that I'll be able to get some workunits there? .. or are there any other projects that support Andoied/ARM?

Suggestions always welcome!

(My Raspberry Pi account is stuck at 15 applications. Seems rather hopeless.)

Cheers!

Please check project forums. For projects which publishes their source code somewhere, usually someone will compile them for RPi/ARM app and put it somewhere. Such apps can be installed as "anonymous platform". You should be able to find many apps for Pi, definitely more than for Android.

Android is more complicated. In order to install custom app you must root your phone, or use Native BOINC which allows to install any project app without rooting. App compilation is also more complicated - on Linux ARM you can simply compile app using native compiler, for Android you probably would have to cross-compile app on your PC. Additionally 32-bit Android has some strange limitation and does not allow to use hard floating point abi. I am not sure if there are some tricks to overcome this limitation - if not, app would have to use softfp abi, which is slower than hard. This means that apps which use float-point calculations will be even slower in Android. BTW, Android for AARCH64 (64-bit ARM) does not have such limitation.

After all the amalgamations of various applications and the reduction in hours on some NCI applications, a lot of people took a few steps back last month before moving forward again, you will see this in peoples totals.

Overall not a lot of movement on the list although STEVE shook the list up a bit.

Lets see how you fared last month.

Bok's "Free-DC" web site shows your hours and how you rank against others (you must allow for the hours export in you account preferences, there is no security problems as no one can access your account).
Just allow the export and as you pass 180 applications I can add you to this list.

Since last month

respawner who lost his 9th star last month has regained it again and is back on the list.
STEVE has now joined the list popping into 2nd overall.
Sergey Kovalchuk has dropped off the list by blocking data export in his account.
Maurice Goulois, B Johansson and Raspo have all been removed from the list as they no longer run WUProp, so will appear at the bottom to show how far they got.

Steve Dodd has regained his 11th star
respawner has regained his 9th star

Places are swapping around on the list.

Bok has created a new listing which can help you find apps to run, you have to allow the data export so he can gather information for you.

Congratulations to all the people who earned new badges over the last month, and I hope I didn't miss anybody, scanning the stats list to find people and going in and counting all there apps does take time. Placing them in this list takes even longer.

With all the app amalgamations behind us we should be able to move forward and continue to enjoy this thing called BOINC.

I still haven't been able to get my 15th star back yet after losing it a month or so ago, but getting closer with just 2 more apps needed.

On-wards with the fun.
