Message 877 - Posted: 12 Feb 2013, 1:10:30 UTC

I noticed there are apps for some project that are not reflected on the table on my account page.

For example, I have been crunching both of these:

malariacontrol.net openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch A)
malariacontrol.net openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch B)

http://www.malariacontrol.net/apps.php

They have different app names, both long (listed above) and short (openMalariaA/openMalariaB).

I have been crunching both. Yet only the A version is sowing on my account page.

How do we get this fixed? And is this the right place to report apps missing from our account list?

I concur/have the same issue; I've returned and reported tasks from both malariacontrol app types, but I'm only being credited for the Branch A type,
malariacontrol.net openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch A)

There are (Branch A) v6.58, and (Branch B) v6.58 app types.

Both app types are listed at WUProp,
http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/delai.py

malariacontrol.net openMalaria test version -538.9 (-538.9 - -538.9)
openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch A) 4.6 (3.6 - 4.7)
openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch B) 4.6 (3.6 - 4.7)

What criteria is used to establish different applications, and is this transient?

I suppose that the <user_friendly_name> used in the app-part of client_state.xml is determining the different applications for data to report.
Maybe that name is the same for A and B malaria simulators. You may have a look into (a copy of) the client_state.xml file.

Nope. I already addressed that.

Those are the user friendly names, "openMalariaA" and "openMalariaB".

I now show the (Branch B) application, it just started showing up today:

malariacontrol.net openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch B) 15.85

Already have 1000 Hr's too for the (Branch A)

Not a missing App but a reporting problem it seems. I have about 50 Hr's of work turned in at the SAT Project http://sat.isa.ru/pdsat/ but only 11 Hr's are showing in my Badge Stats, the Wu.s have been turned in for over 24 Hr's now so I don't know if there's a reporting problem or not.

I'm still not seeing the Branch B app either.
If it's just started to work (been fixed) in the last day or so I have not returned any B WU's since the 8th Feb:

154501640 90465548 8 Feb 2013 10:17:12 UTC 9 Feb 2013 11:56:00 UTC Completed and validated 1,014.61 1,011.37 12.56 openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch B) v6.58
154501635 90465543 8 Feb 2013 10:17:10 UTC 8 Feb 2013 11:27:37 UTC Completed and validated 1,476.87 1,468.58 16.69 openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch B) v6.58

I have one or two B type WU's on another system, so I will try to force them up the queue and see if it's working...

It looks like the B app has been activated recently (between 9th and 12th Feb). I now have it listed:

malariacontrol.net openMalaria: A simulator of malaria epidemology and control (Branch B) 2.60

The numbers add up to my PV+Valids reported today:

Anybody getting Credit for POEM CPU Wu's, I've turned in about 50 Hr's worth & don't show anything for it. I'm getting a little tired of running Projects that I'm not getting Credit for the Hr's I've run. SAT & POEM both have been a waste of time so far ...

I haven't run any POEM CPU tasks. But I am getting credits for the GPU tasks I have run.

For SAT, I am getting credited properly.

Still no malariaB, but maybe I haven't returned any since the fix was made.

I'm getting some POEM++ CPU time credit, but I only started running these last night,

Poem@Home POEM++ OpenCL version 2,075.58
Poem@Home POEM++ 22.97

The app I'm running is the default 1.06 version. I'm running it in a Linux VM because I can't be bothered re-writing my app_config to include CPU tasks just so I can get another app over 100h for here.

Well I've turned in 63 Valid CPU Tasks since either very early this morning or late last night, can't remember when I actually started running them on just 1 4 core Box. So far nada Credit for Hr's here but Credit at the Project, WUProp has been running on the Box all along so the work should have been reported here I would think. I'll give it till the morning before puling the plug on POEM for now.

It'll get harder & harder to run more Projects if you have to go thru this now & then & waste time on a Project that won't report for you. Why it reports for some but not for others I have no Idea ...

EDIT: I just checked the Event Log for the BOINC Manager & the WUProp App is being turned in every 3 Hours or so so the POEM Work should be reported like I said ...

EDIT: Just had 11 POEM Hr's show up, I have about 70 Hr's turned in so far though ...

I don't think the "Reported data" section of our account page is updated real time. I think it is a cron job is is updated every few hours.

It's been quite a challenge working out what's going on here, and how this works. The more systems you have and apps you run, the harder it gets. My WUProp credit seems to update with every returned task, by 7 credits as expected, and at least one project gets updated with more hours each time, so far (but I tend to keep a low cache).
I think we must be getting the respected hours for each reported app at the time the WUProp app is reported. I suspect this isn't a cron job, but it could be a very frequent one or done app by app. It's a bit of a pain trying to work these things out.
One thing to note is that it's probably down to task reporting rather than uploading the task (different databases) - Some projects don't like to auto-report often (WCG being the obvious one), while others (GPUGRID) do (so long as you have a 7.x client).

I am thinking that yafu is not being reported correctly, probably because it uses an MT app. I have two 8-way machines running yafu exclusively. That should result in 24*8*2=384 CPU hours per day, right? If I look at individual tasks, it lists one value for run time, and another for CPU time. The run time is always a bit less than 8x the CPU time (normal for inefficiency of MT apps). Here is an example:

http://yafu.dyndns.org/yafu/result.php?resultid=993634

I think WUprop is looking at the run time, when it should be CPU time.

It looks like renderfarm MT tasks have the same problem.

Some of these Projects are really hard to run, I've been running the SLinCA & getting Credit Hr's here but no Credit at the Project. Something about the zip file not opening that's sent back to the Project I guess. I checked at the Project & it's apparently an on going problem with Windows Computers. So I can waste a Ton of time to get the Credit Hr's but no Credit ...

It looks like renderfarm MT tasks have the same problem.

I can't even connect to the Renderfarm Project ???

I see what you mean, I started 1 YaFu Task up & it is using all 8 Threads, if your only going to get 24 Hr's Credit here it's not worth running IMO ...

They are rebuilding their site. No access to account pages yet. So you have to already have an account there for now. Eventually they will have everything working again.

Yeah, there are like 3-4 MT projects now, and this needs to get fixed.
