The application FreeHAL 2012 app from project FreeHAL@home is active - Ref. - It's not active, FreeHAL was discontinued in 2012 When the WUPorp app detects an old app that hasn't been around for a while it automatically reports it here as being a new app or re-release of an intermittent app. Sometimes very old apps turn up from resurrected systems (unused in yeas) that where attached to WUProp and other projects some time ago, including dead projects to which the hosts couldn't return work from years ago. |

Yeah, I really wonder what these guys are doing, first OProject now FreeHAL... What will come next, reanimation of the app from Predictor@Home? :-D No, wait, that's really impossible, WUProp wasn't yet alive as this project was active. ;-) Life is Science, and Science rules. Yeah, I really wonder what these guys are doing, first OProject now FreeHAL... Hey! I got this old thing running again. Let me add WUProp first. Now... what have we got here... Predictor??!!?? |

... the app from Predictor@Home? :-D Really really impossible! :-) Nobody hated BOINC crunchers more than David L. Brown, the infamous last Predictor administrator. Actually, Predictor used to be my favorite project, until they hired DLB. He promptly banned everybody who was active on the forums, and shortly after that shut down the project altogether. Because of him, I'll be forever few credits short of 250000... |

He promptly banned everybody who was active on the forums, and shortly after that shut down the project altogether. Well, the story was a little different and a lot longer from my POV, but that doesn't matter really. I guess everyone who was there has his own impressions and memories of the events. ;-) Life is Science, and Science rules. To the universe and beyond Member of BOINC@Heidelberg My BOINC-Stats |

New applications Only 64 bit applications for both Linux and Windows on Briseurs-de-code. See http://briseurs-de-code.org/briseur/ It is French for "Code Breakers", I think. Conan |

New applications Yes, Google Translate says "Code Breakers". The 64-Bit Linux tasks are failing for me on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. error while loading shared libraries: libcryptopp.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory |

Working O.K for me on a Windows 10 machine. Taking over 2 hours per Work Unit though and the tasks have a 24 hour deadline. Their server optimistically sent me 180 units...... Pete |

Regarding Asteroids' app(s), http://asteroidsathome.net/boinc/apps.php. There is only one app called 'Period Search Application'. IMO there should be at least 2 apps and perhaps 4 apps, 101.12 (cuda55), 102.10 (avx), 102.10 (sse2), 102.10 (sse3). CUDA is certainly different to the CPU apps. Firstly you need a CUDA 5.5 capable NVidia GPU, then you need to select or deselect CUDA as a project preference. If you are going to be more refined SSE3 is different to SSE2 and AVX. While most CPU's will have the SSE3 instruction set (2004) plenty will not have the 2011 AVX instruction set. Even if these are all downloaded in the one package they are different executables. Is there a way to identify between them for here? |

Is there a way to identify between them for here? Simple answer? No. What's important here is the (stats) data delivered by the project itself. They are responsible to separate and define the apps as they are. When this doesn't happen, any other project or stats site cannot read that out. So if you haven't done that yet, you probably should ask at Asteroids for this. Btw: I've not yet seen one project differentiating between apps when they're using different calculation methods like avx, sse etc. (e.g. PrimeGrid) for the stats. Besides it's mostly implemented in the programs itself to use the best algorithm of the processors power. At some projects (like Asteroids in this case) the server decides which app the processor needs. Life is Science, and Science rules. Now that I read my own stuff again it looks like I have misinterpreted you and delivered a wrong explanation - sorry for that, please forget it.. :-( Even if these are all downloaded in the one package they are different executables. You're right, I looked up my Asteroids directory and saw (different) apps there. Since for other projects wo do have indeed different app entries for at least GPU etc. (e.g. Einstein, PrimeGrid, Bitcoin Utopia) it normally should be separated also from our understanding. Happens there are a lot of other inconsistencies in our apps lists over time, you probably have readed some of the posts in other threads - if no one is going to say something went wrong the first time it happens then it stays (forever)... It is the physical WU internal name that is being used. For example, Primegrid uses the same application for many of their projects, but the WUs are each different. What is being counted is the type of WU, not the physical application. Primegrid uses multiple applications also, like Genfer has CPU, OLC2, OLC3, OLC4, OLC5, CUDA, and maybe others. This are not counted separately. Now most of those have been combined into a single application, but previously they were separate. |
