Hello folks!

I am, pretty new to this project and have a small question:

Is it in a reliable and legal way possible to shorten the wu/task so that it successfully exits early rather than run its full 6h duration, e.g. if no other projects/applications are running any more and e.g. you want to exit Boinc or shut the computer down completely?

Maybe I have overlooked it, but I haven't found any thread or FAQ on this topic.

Greetings.

If no work units are running on the BOINC session for the 6 hours that the WUProp work unit is running then you will get an error and Zero points anyway. A work unit from any project needs to be running on the computer for WUProp to record details of it (such as run time, memory usage etc).

So if nothing is running on the computer then you can just shut down BOINC without an issue. You can set the project to No New Work and then abort the running WU before you shut down BOINC.

There is no normal way to end the WU from WUProp earlier that the 6 hours as it is then deemed to have terminated early so must have an error.
All work units run for 6 hours on all computers as set by the project, processor speed will make no difference.
