I am curious to know what value this information has? For what purpose? And to who? It has no value to me that I can see (as a user) or am I missing a point? It also seem that once sufficient data is collected and the project's goals are met, it will terminate. Which may accure rather quickly as I see it. (That question was asked earlier by Tristesire in Mar without a reply).

This information may help users to choose projects. For exemple:

Your computer have no many RAM: you choose a project which don't need many memory
Your computer doesn't run 24h/24h : you choose a project with long deadline or short workunit
You have quota with your ISP: you choose project with small amount of data downloaded or uploaded

This project has no end because new projects appear, projects create new applications, ...

As a side note, I wonder if this data collection is from 'public domain' sources or is it collected from user HD's?? Aren't most of the WU processing initated by command .exe programs? Once inside your computer, could the program be used to collect data (any?) from you systems. Hackers are extremely active and potent these days, as we all know. While I believe this project to be on the up-n-up, we cannot be too careful. Please enlighten me on these matter.

This page shows a summary of data collected
The program can only collect data given by client BOINC. It uses same protocol as the manager BOINC uses to display GUI informations.
Hackers can't use this program for collecting other data.

Ok, that clarifies a few issues I was curious about. I am a bit cautious of projects that would collect data from user computers or use volunteer computers to process mathematical data that may be used in the encryption fields. Prime number algorithyms are use extensively in the encryption fields to protect or invade 'sensitive' information. As I mentioned, hackers are taking advantage of every avenue they can find to exploit that information. They could easily use distributed computing to that end.

It's difficult to read the results on our page. Some seem to be counter-intuitive, or not in keeping with fact. For example... on http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/delai.py ...

On the Report Limit Page: why negative numbers for report deadline minimums? And the graphs are but a few dots, seemingly collected at specific times... I don't get it...

On the Upload/Download Page: nothing downloaded, ever? You have to be getting -something- to upload...

How often does the RAM Requirement change, and do we collect info on what seems to be pretty much static data? Same with Disk Space Required...

Computation Time looks pretty well blank, even after input of data for type of computer, etc...

What is a checkpointing interval? Some kind of point where the WU stops and examines things? And why does that matter? (I'm sure it does, just dunno why)

Credit Per Day Per Core is in the 10s of millions for some projects?
