I have an idea I would like to share with Community.
Why not create an option of comparing project that are active in last 24 hours with project you have crunched for ? It would make life easier for stars hunters and give more data for new or less popular projects.

Why active projects and not active apps?

I'm a bit fussy about what I crunch for. Certain types of projects/apps don't lend themselves to me.

Biology and Medicine tops my list but I also crunch apps from Earth Science projects, Physical Science, some types of Maths, Cognitive science & AI, Computing and some ‘new concept’ projects.
Games (chess, Sudoku), Pi crunching and most Mathematical theorem/hypothesis projects are not for me. Boinc Manager categorises ‘some’ projects (but does not list them all).

Unless your 'Active Comparison' can be categorised by app type, it wouldn't be much of an improvement for me over the existing WUProp@home - Results and Active projects last 24 hours pages.
- just saying.

Highlighting the apps we crunch for on the Active projects last 24 hours pages might suffice, but it would be nice to see app suggestions against your profile.

But you must agree that it would be nice to see that one of your favourite projects just launched a new application or admins added some new work for application "on hold". For example WCG with beta testing. When one of WUProp users will return information of crunching this application you will instantly receive notification of it. Smart ?

Was thinking that too. Even when we know well in advance, and put the nets out, getting WCG Beta's is often difficult.
Also, when they are being drip few into the system most of us still have almost no chance of getting 100h of test work, unless its a lengthy beta for a new project.
    Some you win,
World Community Grid Beta Test 551.18 0.00
World Community Grid Help Fight Childhood Cancer 320.87 0.00
    World Community Grid Beta - FightAIDS@Home 224.78 0.00

    Some you don’t,
    World Community Grid Beta - FightAIDS@Home - VINA 56.45 0.00
    World Community Grid Beta - FightAIDS@Home - AutoDock 37.08 0.00
World Community Grid Beta - The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 22.42 0.00
World Community Grid Beta - Say No to Schistosoma 1.63 0.00

That said WUProp reports tasks that ran when it did, so on average it should see a new app in 3h and if several people crunch for the project it's likely that WUProp will detect a new WU <<3h.
If new apps were automatically listed in a thread, you could subscribe to it and receive both email messages and Notices within Boinc. Doesn't mean you will be awake when they arrive, but it might increase your chances of catching a Beta run somewhere.
