My http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/show_host_detail.php?hostid=80854 has a GTX480 with the latest driver 378.49. However, the details of that host on WUProp only show it as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 (1536MB) OpenCL: 1.1. All other NVIDIA hosts of mine (http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/hosts_user.php?userid=130872) show the GPUs like [4] NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X (4095MB) driver: 378.49 OpenCL: 1.2. This one host also shows up "driver-less" on other projects like GPUGRID etc. Is there a general problem with the way BOINC client detects this client, although it lists the following in the Event Log, including the correct driver: 2/8/2017 4:40:04 PM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 480 (driver version 378.49, CUDA version 8.0, compute capability 2.0, 1536MB, 1217MB available, 1345 GFLOPS peak) The only thing I can think of is that this machine also has a GTX 580 in it that is disabled in the Device Manager due to many errors it generates; I just didn't have time nor the will to get under the dusty desk to pull it out. But for all practical purposes, that 580 is invisible to anything other than the Device Manager and NVIDIA Control Panel as a disabled card, leaving only the 480 as the one card that is in there for anybody else. Thoughts? Thanks Tuna |

The last Windows update put out a bad driver. You need to get the official one from NVidia if that is what happened. Happened to me on all my machines. |

I always use the ones from nvidia.com. That said, I have no idea what the problem was. It was like that for a while, like my original post shows including a copy/pasted section without the driver number. But today, it is all there. Hmmmmm..... |

Perhaps you reinstalled the driver, restarted your computer, restarted or reinstalled boinc? Before the post, I had reinstalled the latest driver, rebooted, did not update BOINC, did a project update with the WUProp project in BOINC, waited a bit for stuff to propagate, did not see it in the host page, did it a few times more, etc. Then I posted. Maybe something happened over midnight in the database. Or, somebody magically fixed something in the database... |

Speculative, but if you didn't shut down Boinc Manager & client before installing the NV driver Boinc might have communicated with the WUProp project during the NV update (which can take a while). The NV driver version might have been cleared at the time and didn't reappear until the system was restarted (to finish/register the driver update). I'm assuming the computer details displayed on the WUProp web server are not live (updated continuously), and instead are updated by a script every hour/4h/6h or possibly 12h. |
