Can't get my New Win 10 Pro Laptop to be recognized by BOINCTasks v1.43. I have the remote_gui.cfg file in place & the cc_config.xml file has the required <allow_remote_gui_rcp>1</allow_remote_gui_rcp> in place too, all my other box's connect to BOINCTasks on a Win 8 Laptop for monitoring on Port 2222 but the Win Pro Laptop won't connect to the same laptop ... Keep getting this when starting BOINC on the Win 10 Laptop. is there some other line I'm supposed to us on a Win 10 PC ??? 2/18/2017 5:43:37 AM | | Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <allow_remote_gui_rcp>

Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <allow_remote_gui_rcp>

<allow_remote_gui_rpc>1</allow_remote_gui_rpc>

"C:\Program Files\BOINC\boinc.exe" --allow_remote_gui_rpc --gui_rpc_port 31416

(31416 - default port)

Thanks for pointing that out, getting old & slow here I guess. Still not connecting to the Win 8 Laptop though on BOINCStats. Checked again to make sure the IP Address was correct & it is so I don't know ...

Whether or not you use port 2222 instead of the default port?
Try to connect to a problem host with BOINC manager, or from the command line

"C:\Program Files\BOINC\boinccmd.exe" --host 127.0.0.1:<port> --get_simple_gui_info

(just do not use the keyword localhost - in this case it will not work)

I have version 1.69 BOINC Tasks and I could not connect to hosts with a nonstandard port (allow_multiple_clients).
But I can connect to this host with the manager in format <address:port>

PS You may need another option - "--passwd *****" from gui_rpc_auth.cfg

Nope not that, I go real simple & use password as the password on all my box's, real easy to remember ... lol

Windows firewall running on the laptop?

It wasn't when I was trying to get it to connect so I re-enabled it & allowed BOINC to run. But I just thought I haven't tried it with the Firewall disabled since I corrected the mistake in the cc_config file. I'll try disabling the Firewall again & see what happens ...

Still won't connect to the Win 8 Box ... :(

Yeah, I've been running 1.43 for so long without problems I never looked for a newer version. Still haven't been able to get the win8 box to recognize the win 10 box. Doesn't matter really, I've switched BOINCTasks v1.69 to the Win 10 Laptop now that that box will be my main personal Laptop & I'll do all the monitoring from that box instead.

Was pretty easy really, I just put the all the box's PC info in BOINCTasks & they were all picked up without having to go out to each box & put anything in the remote_hosts file. Think I already had all the ip addresses in each host file already. I got tired some time ago of having to do that each time I used a new monitoring box so I just went ahead & put all the ip address in in my workgroup to cover all the bases in the future ...

I guess its a WorkGroup account profile, shared between systems (but I haven't used a workgroup since W2000) )=)

Thanks BobCat, it was the One Drive Application on the Win 8 Box causing the weird Desktop changes between the 2 laptops. I shut that down & now it doesn't change both Screen when I change 1 of them... :)
