I released a new application for Android and BOINC 7.18.
This application needs you enable remote control.
If remote control is not enabled, results returned will be invalid and no hours will be counted.

Validation error. and I have remote control enabled.
Still some work to do.

Question: Why is remote control needed. It should be only for the user to have remote access to his hosts and not be used by a application. It also useses a password witch the application can not know.

After switching remote control off and back on again now it works.
Still the question remains why its needed.

To get data, the application uses the same protocol as the manager BOINC or BoincTasks.
Before version 7.18.x, RPC protocol was using Unix socket.
Since version 7.18.x BOINC protocol uses TCP Socket. Like BoincTasks, WUProp application needs remote control enabled to get data from BOINC.

Ok and where is the remote control setting kept. I don't see it in the usual places.

It's in the BOINC PROGRAM:
Open BOINC / Go to Menu / Preferences / scroll down to Enable Remote Control (about 3/4 ways to bottom) / Check the box on the right side of screen, BOINC will close and restart.

Guessing it doesn't apply. See thread title.

The latest Android version 7.18.1 is ONLY AVAILABLE to download from the BOINC SERVER. It's not in Google Playstore.
* It has to be downloaded manually (easiest to use the web browser on your android device) AND MANUAL INSTALL from
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.18.1.apk
Once download, you will have to double tap/click the download name and say YES to to prompt to allow permission to install from a file/untrusted source (also known as "side loading").

Is it still going to be 6 hours monitoring? I just found out about the new app (just missed the announcement last check-in) and at the current rate it doesn't, but BOINC can be funny with times and I know the old app would just keep incrementing the time remaining.

Thank you for the new Android client. My little legion of Droids are happy to be counted once again.

Onward Ho!
