Sorry for the dumb question, but no matter how I searched, I couldn't find any usable information about adding WUProp on Android. It doesn't show up among available projects (not even on my new-ish phone) and I didn't find a place where I could manually add the project based on its URL. Is there some elaborate workaround to make WUProp run on Android, especially old tablets?

It works with 7.18+ and enabling remote control. I haven't ran android in some time but there was an option when adding a project to type in the URL under the ... ellipses.

Step 1: Use a recent BOINC version (partially due to bundled Internet certificates; older BOINC will have older certificates, and some may have expired by now). As of this post, the most recent version is 8.2.1. (Note: The oldest device I have running 8.2.1 is an Android 9 Phone; it's the oldest device overall that I have. For tablets, I have one, running Android 15.)
Step 2: Use the 3-dot drop-down menu next to the '+' option; you should see an "Add by URL" option. (The "+", 'obviously', pulls from the preset list.)
Step 3: In the 'main' settings (you MIGHT need to select "Show Advanced Settings" to make this appear), select the RPC option; this way tasks will validate. (Otherwise they'll run and return, but won't validate - it won't recognize any hours from the other projects you are running at the same time.)

And just in case anyone reading this thread has a question of where to find the BOINC APKs (since Google Play no longer lists them... there is a GENERAL security reason for that), one location is the download folder on the main BOINC site.

Version 8.2.1, specifically.

Note: There's no guarantee of new versions being announced, so occasionally checking the Download page is recommended. (Do a "Find in page" for 'apk'; the most recent will be the last listing found. 8.2.1 is the 69th of 69 entries, for example.)

Man, I would never have figured out that to add projects by URL you have to open the "Projects" menu, and not the (otherwise logical) "Add project" submenu...
I was running 8.0.2 on all mentioned devices, ugraded to 8.2.1 on my current phone (Android 13) but I managed to add WUProp on an old phone (Android 9) and 2 tablets (Android 4.4.4) still running 8.0.2 without issues. Already got 4 validated tasks on the new phone and 2 tasks each on the old devices. Got one more tablet (Android 6) that needs fixing tomorrow, but I don't expect any issues.

Thanks a lot for your detailed help!

p.s.: Yeah, I did the version upgrade straight from the official BOINC site.

"Add Projects" uses a process for a project to be added to the list; I've gathered that part of the process may include having someone from the project asking to be added into the list.

The other option is, presumably, a just-in-case for projects that haven't been listed (possibly due to not asking, as one reason) but people still want to run tasks for them.
