If its private, doesn't that make collecting WUProp data from that project useless? Not if it's your new star, circle or color of star you get for running it. That being said it would be nice if they had periodic public signups. |

If its private, doesn't that make collecting WUProp data from that project useless? Nobody said BOINC could not be used for private/institutional use. The way I understand the licensing of BOINC, it is PUBLIC and can be used by anyone, anywhere, anytime and they don't have to have a public-facing project to use it. ** Edit to add >>> I'm sure there is a non-complicated way for WuProp to EXCLUDE these PRIVATE projects... maybe Seb can add a check if the new projects web site allows for PUBLIC registration. There's probably a way to *manually* do it -- for example, Charity Engine1 tasks never show up in the statistics -- but it might be tricky to try to have the software figure it out on its own. You're likely to have lots of people screaming about project XYZ hours not showing up because the computer thinks it's private. There's no terribly obvious way for the WUProp task to know that a project is private. 1And even though Charity Engine hours never show up, the tasks still get announced on these forums anyway. If its private, doesn't that make collecting WUProp data from that project useless? Stars aren't the 'Research' of the project though but just the carrot on a stick. Running multiple BOINC clients with more tasks than processor threads gains stars but ruins the data this project gathers. And will get clients banned. So if the goal of the project is to collect data for the Results page and it cannot be done to make it useful not able to be used by others, then should data be collected on private projects at all? I don't think the data collection for new project is 100% automated as it can take days for the sticky post after a WUProp task is returned with data. |

Denis has restarted and old account information has been recovered G'Day Bill, I get FORBIDDEN, you don't have access to this resource or something like that. So no go at the moment for me, I will try again sometime later. I only need 4,000 points to get to 500,000 so here's hoping it gets going. Conan |

Denis has restarted and old account information has been recovered Did you get to the actual website or was it 'forbidden' before even getting there? I get the 'forbidden' thing going to several Boinc Projects mostly because they use http instead of https but since it's Boinc I scroll down and click the link that says 'proceed anyway' or something like that and the website I want pops right up. After that one time it usually lets me get there anytime I want to after that. I don't think this is my a/v program I think it's Google, Firefox or MS's Edge browsers that are doing it. Yes I use all 3 but not generally for the same thing. |

I can get to the website now and my account allows to access it without a problem. My issue with Dennis now is my computer can talk to their servers, get message project is shut down for maintenance. Will try again when all server processes are running, most are off line at the moment. Conan |

I've got some hours today for Advanced molecular dynamics simulations for GPUs (ACEMD 4) but its still shown as red. Enough for 100 hours now. 1 more to 300 Many are timing out so still issues from GPUGrid. |

...and there is a new thing... Hm, looks like the new app is counting towards the old app, because all the hours I made in the last days were for the (Arecibo, fast) one, but now it looks like this for me: Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, GPU) 1,004.58 401.10 This needs a fix!
