Congratulations on your matt green star :) Since this badge system started about a year ago I've put in 268,000hours (that counted). If I had crunched evenly across all apps I could have had 5 green stars. Of course I'm top heavy with 5magenta apps, 2 of which are almost at Lime (shiny green). While I have a blue, my second star isn't even emerald (only ruby) and at the lower end I don't have a fifth badge. Maybe this year I can find another 7 worthy apps to scrape together a bronze... I might also try to get that second star to emerald later this year, and push the 3rd to ruby. After that, who knows. With the highest star (Purple) being 100Kh (11.4years) for each of 20apps, I don't think there is any point in me aiming for such a star. I doubt that I will ever get 1 GPU app to that level and I've become increasingly GPU orientated over the last 5years or so. Perhaps if GPUGrid keep their Long app for another 3years... Even for CPU apps it's a big ask just to get 1 app to 100Kh. 11 threads running one app for a year. A bit silly if you could spread that 100Kh over 20apps and get a blue star for the same effort. If WUProp had been retroactive from WCG alone I would have 3 purple apps, 3 cyan and 5 or 6 lyme. Probably a few other apps of high colour from other projects too. Then I might have been inclined to aim for one really high coloured badge, but as is, I'm not. I'll mostly just crunch for the few projects I'm interested in. It's good that the high coloured badges are there for bigger crunchers but for me, realistically, I might get one Lime star in a few years time. As I prefer to spend money on GPU's rather than CPU's I don't think enough apps will be around long enough for me to get a cyan star never mind a purple one. From one point of view, and for some GPU apps, GPU crunching is inherently under-rated by the WUProp app; when you crunch a GPU WU you actually use a GPU and a CPU (to some extent). At GPUGrid, until very recent drivers, a full CPU core and a full GPU was used (on recent cards), yet you only get credited for the app time. It's similar to running an MT app but just getting app time for one core. With the latest drivers less CPU is used, but if you use more CPU threads the GPU performance drops. Fortunately at other projects such as Einstein you can configure your system to run 2 WU's on the same GPU. When POEM had GPU WU's you could run 6 or 7 apps, improve overall work throughput, and get the runtime hours here, but you did have to dedicate the CPU's and the GPU entirely to PEOM. |

I still haven't figured out how the badge system works...... |

I still haven't figured out how the badge system works...... Quite simple, If you run 20 Applications (NOT Projects) for a total of 100 hours run time each then you will earn a Bronze Badge (which you already have). This then applies repeatedly for each additional 20 applications that you run. After 100 applications accumulate 100 hours each you will have a full compliment of 5 Bronze badges. For every 20 applications run past 100 hours up to 250 hours each then you will get the next badge a Silver. 500 hours = Gold, 1,000 hours = Ruby and onwards (for groups of 20 applications). You can try and get all the badges, which is a huge task. Or just work on what you can or want. If you only work on a few applications then you can slowly build them up in hours to reach the colour goal that you set, but to get a badge you have to have groups of 20 applications (so 20, 40, 60, etc). You also need all 20 applications to reach the same colour (i.e. when all 20 go past the say 250 hours then you get a Silver badge even if some applications have many more hours), before that group of 20 is awarded that colour badge. Hope this helps. Conan |

Reached today my target of a colourful flute Emerald - Ruby - Gold - Silver - Bronze 5 stars in 5 different colours. I don't think that I can shift up the complete flute to the next level in the foreseeable future. |

Ding! On holidays in Melbourne right now, but one of my home servers has just uploaded a WU for CAS@Home that got me to this: → I'm only two apps away from turning the first one Emerald, one of which should be done in a day or two. I'm also relatively close to a third gold and fourth silver, but they won't be happening for a while, as I'm focusing on projects that my team needs help in at the moment (and also, I cbf playing with servers during my holiday). |

After finally getting everything set up and connected to the internet after moving house, I have an emerald star! → Next will probably be a gold third star. |

... 5th star and a rainbow of colours. I think my next target will be a second red, and then I'll try to get the second star to green... Suggestion: I've a Lot of dead apps on my 119 long list. Only 5 apps from my lowest 40 are active. Can we have these automatically highlighted on the Your Account page (Active apps in Bold and Inactive apps greyed out, for example)? Then there is the Dead Projects, which could be indicated by a strike-through. |

... ... Well, that's the second red, and the plan is still to shift the first red to green... Suggestion: ... :( =sticky tape= |
