MLC@Home Is shutting down
After over two years, some bumpy moments, and the tremendous support from our volunteers,
I, as MLC admin, am making the decision to shut down MLC@Home as a BOINC project for the
time being.

Why?
We've achieved the goals I set out to accomplish (and more!) with 4 complete datasets comprising
dozens of terabytes of data to analyze. Now we need to focus on analyzing the results and writing papers.
As a researcher, at some point you have to stop generating data and write; and my family, work, and
school commitments have limited the amount of time I can spend generating new experiments. This
should be evident as I've been less and less responsive to the community over the past 6 months,
for which I apologize. While we can always want more from any endeavor, I think we've accomplished
a lot for now, and want to put the project on indefinite hiatus until something new comes along.

I just tried getting some, their Server Status page says they are available but after 3 batches of nothing but the Graph tasks I gave up trying to get them

i got some, but they all error out on all machines.

Ouch. I felt that, even from way over here. Some RNA tasks are incompatible with newer VirtualBox versions and maybe that's the snag?

The computer that got it? A 10+ year old Atom-powered netbook. The task lasted 11 minutes before erroring out. I got 0.20 hours. Oh joy. If I can just get 499 more of those, I'll get a star. LOL

I managed to get 5000+ Hr's on the last one I got on the same Box this one went to, so I don't know what the problem was ...

I've got my 4th ever cmsearch VM (VirtualBox) 1.0.2 task going atm.
History for it shows it is nearly a decade old after being created Nov 2013. It's been completed twice and I'm nearly 23 days in.

They are VERY long tasks for me as well, I've got one going for 62 days so far with over 100 days still to go and it expired a few weeks ago, but in the Forums they said to just keep crunching it until it finishes.

Yeah the one that completed for me took months. Half way done with this one. Hoping to still get credit with 2 quorum having now returned since I picked up the task.
