I get this message every time I try and get a work unit. It has been getting version 4 work but now nothing. Maybe there are no version 4 available but I cannot see that anywhere. I have test applications selected. I get this message every time I try and get a work unit. It has been getting version 4 work but now nothing. Maybe there are no version 4 available but I cannot see that anywhere. I'm getting exactly the same on my Win 98 machine. I'm not allowing test applications. In fact I cannot get work on my OSX and Android devices. I did get a WU for my Linux box though.

I think its just a matter of being patient. Earlier tonight I was getting the no work for my machine for version 3 message too but later I got a work unit under version 4...so just be patient is my counsel. |

My problem might have been a disk space issue as the machine in question was running out after I backed up my web server to it. My bad, have work now that I trimmed the backup to make space. Proud Founder and member of Have a look at my WebCam |

I am getting the "no work for version 3 error." Version 4 works for my computer, why is it not sending that? (It is not an issue of not enough space I have plenty.) |

I'm getting the "version 3 is not available" error occasionally. Operation Systems are Windows7 64bit, Linux 64bit, and Mac OS X 10.8(64bit). Sometimes I get version 4 WUs, and the other times I get version 3 error. What is going on here? Getting version 3 errors on both my Windows 7 desktop and Windows 8 laptop, as well as (I /think/, hard to tell) my Nexus 4 running NativeBOINC. |

Looking over my logs I see it happening on one active Win XP PRO x86 box in the last 90+ minutes looking for WuProp work. No work has been received past 90+ minutes been asking for WuProp work with no success. It seems to me it happens every day around the same time when they backup or do what ever else need to be done with the server starting around 00:00 UTC. It seems to me it happens every day around the same time when they backup or do what ever else need to be done with the server starting around 00:00 UTC. I think so too. I checked my event logs of my 8 computers, and the "version 3 errors" were happening between 00:00 - 03:00 UTC, every day. |

I get WUProp WUs at around 01:00 UTC (from one machine) without problem, but then get errors at around 01:45 UTC (from another machine). I will agree that the 00:00 UTC restart generates a lack of WUs. However the current problem is that the server is trying to send version 3 and then generating errors. Why is the server trying to send version 3 when version 4 works without errors? EDIT (02:50 UTC): A third computer just generated the error only to get the version 4 immediatly afterwards....then 4 minutes later a 4th computer got the version 3 error repeatedly. |

The Download problem is not just affecting 64 Bit computers but also 32 Bit. I don't get the error message every day about Version 3 but about every second day. It can take from 1 Hour up to 3 Hours to get a new Version 4 work unit on any of my Linux 64 Bit and Windows 32 Bit computers. This would now be the reason why I seem to be missing a lot of reported hours for returned work. When the new WUProp work unit wont download to my computer for hours, my computer has been reporting work back to the various projects but WUProp wont know about it as it is not running on the computer so it wont record that work. Particularly the short work units that take less than 2 hours to run. Hope that Sebastien can work it all out. Conan |

Probably for some reason the work_generator_v4 stops working in some (random?) periods. Now 'Results ready to send 2,445' on the Server status page: http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/server_status.php If you (anyone) see again the message 'Data collect version 3 is not available for your type of computer.' can you check and post the 'Results ready to send' from the Server status page? I changed my BOINC settings, to disable network connection between 23:00 - 05:00 UTC. Now my WUprop WUs are running beyond 3 hours, without being uploaded. I hope this can help reduce the "loss" of collection data, during the period of time. |
