excuse me for my bad Engliesch, but why are WU PrimeGrid - Unterproiekt Genefer 3.15 (cpuGFN21) does not appear in the Reported data list in my account? I have counted the third WUProp-WU and it should already be more than 50 hours in the list. http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/show_user.php?userid=846 Greeting Michael |

but why are WU PrimeGrid - Unterproiekt Genefer 3:15 (cpuGFN21) does not appear in the Reported data list in my account? According to PGs app site the app name for cpuGFN21 is Genefer 2097152, that's what you have to look for. But as far as I can see in your list this one is (also) missing and you have made this in the last 24 hours: Genefer 524288 45.40 That's the cpuGFN19-app. Maybe you selected the wrong app in the PG-list? Genefer 21 and 22 are both counted as just Genefer, they are not reported as seperate applications, they are the original Genefer application and so will be counted under Primegrid - Genefer. Genefer 20 on down to 15 are all newer applications split off from the original Genefer app. If you recall Genefer used to be just this very long running application on Primegrid (many hundreds of hours) and this was a combination of both 21 and 22. As I understand it that has not changed. However when Primegrid allowed you to select all the newer apps from 15 to 20 they then also split out 21 and 22 to be seperately selected to run. I ran a Genefer 21 not that long ago and my hours (all 700+ of them) were counted under the original Genefer application (it is just called Genefer). That is how I understand it. Conan |

GFN-22 aka Genefer 4194304 is Genefer (World Record) GFN-21 aka Genefer 2097152 is plain Genefer They are separate apps, each retaining their old PG name here in WUProp land. Genefer 20 on down to 15 are all newer applications split off from the original Genefer app. Bingo! GFN-20 = Genefer 1048576 GFN-19 = Genefer 524288 GFN-18 = Genefer 262144 GFN-17-Mega = Genefer 131072 Mega GFN-17-Low = Genefer 131072 Low GFN-16 = Genefer 65536 GFN-15 = Genefer 32768 Beats me why some Projects insist on having multiple names for the same app. Einstein does this and it drives me batty. BTW, 2^22 = 4,194,304 etc etc |

I've run into the same thing with Genefer [WR] hours not showing up. 55+ hrs still missing. I think PG updated their GFN apps recently and maybe the wuprop app hasn't picked up the change yet... |

I know that Genefer 21 displayed as GENEFER. Only I have the problem that does not appear under Genefer the calculated hours in the Reported datalist. PrimeGrid, Genefer, Hours: 2568.00, last day hours: 00,00 about 100 hours have been counted in the last 2 days. Genefer19 appear separately in the list at the same time PrimeGrid,Genefer 524288(GFN19)Hours:51.50, last day hours:18.07 I believe that the WUProp-app detects the Genefer21? Greeting Michael |

Beats me why some Projects insist on having multiple names for the same app. Einstein does this and it drives me batty. Because we have to do it that way. There's unfortunately no way to have different size tasks -- AND have the user be able to choose which size they want -- unless they're separate apps. I'd much prefer if it were one app -- it would make my work incredibly simpler -- but there's no way to make it work that way. (Yes, I know Rosetta lets the user change the app size, but their app is unusual. It essentially says "Here's a random seed, start with that and and run for however many hours the user selects." That won't work for most projects where the host computer is sent a specific set of data to process.) Back to the OP's question, as you noted, to make the names consistent with the newer apps, I recently renamed "Genefer" to "Genefer 2097152" and "Genefer (World Record)" to "Genefer 4194304". |

Beats me why some Projects insist on having multiple names for the same app. Einstein does this and it drives me batty. There's another aspect to this that should be considered. If you assume that everyone acts in their own interest, it's to a project's advantage to have multiple apps rather than a single app. Yes, it's more work for the admins. Yes, it has significant performance implications for the server. But WUProp drives some users to find as many distinct apps as possible in order to get badges. The more apps a project has, the more incentive there is for users to participate in that project. WUProp, by very the nature of how it awards badges, provides incentives for projects to have as many apps as possible. I know, for example, there's some people here (whose names you would recognize), that have predictably migrated their computers to PrimeGrid whenever a new app opens up. Undoubtedly there's many more whose names I don't recognize. P.S. For those who don't frequent PrimeGrid's boards, we're shutting down the ESP/PSP/SoB Sieve app at the end of July. If you want to get a few more hours in on that app for your WUProp badge, you need to do it soon. |

Beats me why some Projects insist on having multiple names for the same app. Einstein does this and it drives me batty. You've misunderstood me. I have no problem with having one app per WU size. But each app then has multiple names. Example: GFN-15 (in Preferences) is also called Genefer 32768 (in Applications). That's almost OK if you spot the mathematical relationship but some projects use names that do not have a clear and obvious relationship. Consequence is you're not quite sure if the app you just set in Preferences is the app that has work as seen in Server Status. I'll bet this is some "clever" BOINC feature where you can set <obscure_app_name> to be entirely different from <user_friendly_name>. On PG why not just choose either GFN-15 or Genefer 15 or Genefer 32768 and only use that for that app? I'm not fussed how obscure the app name is, just so long as it's clear that the app I set in prefs was the app I wanted from the server status list. |

Beats me why some Projects insist on having multiple names for the same app. Einstein does this and it drives me batty. Gotcha. You're right. I could be more consistent, mostly. There's some places, such as at the top and bottom of the task lists, where I need to keep the app names really short or the headings would read like "War and Peace". Most of the time, I like to use longer, more descriptive names. But you're absolutely right about at 15/32767 thing -- it's very inconsistent. I'll see what I can do. |

I've changed the names to be more consistent. The "user friendly names" are now "Genefer 15" everywhere rather than Genefer 32768. However, I suspect WUProp will remember the old user friendly name, so it will probably remain as "Genefer 32768" here. If so, there's nothing I can do about that. |

Thank you and thanks for listening. I actually wouldn't mind if you went full bore and called it "General Fermat Number 15" but I can understand your reticence to avoid something unwieldy. Consistency really helps with things like config files, so thanks again for that. Pretty sure Sebastien will be on top of any app name changes sooner or later. |

Thank you that you have solved the problem with the Genefer apps as fast. Greeting Michael |

I think there are still some issues. I have 10 entries in wuprop for genfer apps at PG. I can't make them match up with what is available on PG in the project preferences or in the applications page. For starters, PG list only 9 apps. Also, to make things more confusing, one app on wuprop (Genefer 2097152) is listed in red. Red means no activity in that last 30 days. But I am actively accumulating hours. I think there is a mapping issue here on wuprop. PrimeGrid -> wuprop ??? -> Genefer GFN-22 -> Genefer (World Record) GFN-20 -> Genefer 1048576 GFN-17-low -> Genefer 131072 Low GFN-17-mega -> Genefer 131072 Mega GFN-21 -> Genefer 2097152 GFN-18 -> Genefer 262144 GFN-15 -> Genefer 32768 GFN-19 -> Genefer 524288 GFN-16 -> Genefer 65536 Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

PrimeGrid -> wuprop OCLcudaGFN 3.13 -> Genefer (old app) cpuGFN21 3.15 -> Genefer 2097152 (new app) openclatiGFN21 3.15 -> ??? It is necessary to check for application GFN22 & GFNWR - Genefer 4194304 & Genefer (World Record) |

PrimeGrid -> wuprop The original app called "Genefer" is now GFN-21 or Genefer 2097152. Perhaps WUprop is getting the names confused? |

Michael, you've left the old name for the application OCLcudaGFN. It continues to be accounted for as Genefer. When you rename other applications to *GFN21, WUprop began to consider them as a new application "Genefer 2097152" But all completed tasks are counted to the old application. That is why the new application is displayed in red - as inactive. (probably the process of adding a new application was not completed or interrupted abnormally and the database came "mismatch") I have not tested, but may have the same situation with applications GFN-22. I do not know if the administrator had to add an application "Genefer 4194304" for *GFN22 |

Michael, you've left the old name for the application OCLcudaGFN. It continues to be accounted for as Genefer. I don't know what WUProp looks at, but OCLcudaGFN is not an application name. It's a plan_class name. I don't know if WUProp cares about plan classes, but even if it does, the plan class names aren't going to change. Both the BOINC server software and the BOINC client software have specific (and rather arcane) requirements for what those names need to contain in order for the system to work correctly, and now that I finally have them working correctly (it literally has taken years!) I'm not changing them. Anyway, I don't expect there to be any changes to the Genefer names (app -OR- plan_class) anytime in the foreseeable future, so if the WUProp admins can fix it and make it work correctly as it is now, it should stay fixed. |

Uh oh. All the Gender apps have disappeared from my list, except for Genefer 2097152. Maybe in trying to fix this, the admin broke something? Hopefully they will be back soon. Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

They disappeared from my list too, but the badge stars associated with those apps are still there. (It's somewhat easy for me to tell since most of my apps are predictably at PrimeGrid.) EDIT: The interactive chart that shows all your apps also is unaffected and shows the missing Genefer apps. It appears to be only the itemized listing on the account page that is affected. |
