Have 1 Box that was attached to the Private GFN Server Project, was running Wu's on it. Came home today & all the GPU Wu's had run & were waiting to report. I couldn't get them to report no matter what I did. I aborted about 1000 of the finished GFN Wu's thinking maybe to many Wu's were ready to report but that did no good. So I reset the Project, still no good couldn't connect to the Project. So I detached the Box from the Project but still no good, box won't reattach to the Project. My other box's are attached & running Wu's & can connect to the Project but not this one for some reason. I've stopped & restarted BOINC & restarted the computer but nothing works ... weird I did install BOINC v7.14.2 yesterday on the Box but also on the other 2 Windows Box's, those other 2 are okay but their Win 7 Pro Box's while this one is a Win 10 Pro Box. Isolated to the one Windows 10 machine, I'd first look at Windows Defender and the smartscreen.exe process as culprits. That website might have gotten on a blacklist. Haven't delved into the 'improved' Windows Defender-firewall other than how to kill it. Maybe you already thought of this? Took me a while, but I killed all unnecessary services to get a barebones Windows 10 OS under 700MB used RAM with BOINC and MSI running on startup. |

Thanks, didn't find anything in Defender but when I turned off the smartscreen.exe the box connected to the GFN Project again & downloaded more work ... Thanks |

Some networking problems popped up somewhere in the Internet. Nothing changed on the Private GFN Server, and presumably nothing changed on your end either. It was something in the middle. There's a discussion about it on PrimeGrid's GFN forum (Private GFN Server doesn't run its own forums). Some networking changes were made at the Private GFN Server. If it's still doesn't work, there's some information there that might help you. https://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=8504&nowrap=true#128949 (Neither I nor PrimeGrid are involved with this, but I thought you might find this information helpful.) I turned off the smartscreen.exe the box connected to the GFN Project again & downloaded more work ... Thanks smartscreen.exe is similar to an always running VirusTotal submission process sniffer. I need to read more about where it submits the data but it reeked of privacy invasion and market data gathering. There are several ways to rename it so that it never starts again. Using the recommended method to turn it off; the sneaky app stayed on for my machine. steam mentioned: Got a packet capture, seems to be low-level TCP/IP problem (not related to applications). First packet of request body never reaches input interface on my router. May be it's MTU/MSS problem somewhere in the middle (this packet should be of maximum length), may be problem is in these damn ISPs which have lot of traffic ananyzers and ALG's these days which may trigger on some data inside packet where they should not. By Posted: 26 Apr 2019 | 10:11:03 UTC (just after you posted you got it working), stream posted they had made changes to their router of "Also I disabled PMTUD on my router and switched to good old MSS clamp". So the smartscreen shutoff may have been a coincidence. |

Actually I don't think it was smartscreen causing the problem, I think it was something to do with having a browser window open to comcast. Once I closed that window everything seemed to work okay afer that ... |
