Set up a backup project, you can have even more than one. |

coincidentally, i had a host banned yesterday for task failures - i've rebooted, and i expect it will be fixed when unbanned. i might not have noticed this for quite a long time, as all that happens is the notice in the banner, and hours accumulated is reduced. i'd like to request that a Private Message is generated when a host is banned, so i can find out about it in a timely manner. thanks |

Half of my computers are now banned since a project stopped generating work in the night. In this era of dwindling work it's getting harder all the time to keep them working. Have you tried GoofyxGrid or Radioactive or ithena measurements for NCI projects so you don't get hosts banned? https://nci.boinc.goofyx.pl/ http://radioactiveathome.org/boinc/[/url] https://root.ithena.net/usr/ |

How does one get a machine un-banned? Does it happen automatically over time, or do you need to submit a request? Or...? Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

How does one get a machine un-banned? Does it happen automatically over time, or do you need to submit a request? Or...? Sebastien gives an example a few posts down that shows the host "will be banned until xxx", where xxx is the date and possibly time when the host will be un-banned This is shown in the upper left corner. You can always send a request as well I suppose, stating the reason the host was playing up maybe Conan |

The situation resolved itself after 24 hours automatically. Glad to see the process is automated, with no manual action required. Reno, NV Team: SETI.USA |

General news: One reason for "invalid" tasks, at least on Android running Boinc ≥7.18.1, is WUProp now expects/requires a particular setting in Boinc to be checked (involving 'remote host'), otherwise it doesn't track the hours. (I've had it happen to me soon after it was implemented, until I saw the post about the cause.) There's a post about it in the News forum. |
